- Widmore Construction was contracted by the Hanso Foundation to build the Stations.
- Could be using the knowledge gained from that work to pursue its own agenda. Charles Widmore had personal reasons to dispose of Desmond. Some member of the Widmore family or employee of the Widmore Corporation could have had some personal or professional reason to manipulate Henry Gale into his balloon as well.
- Bad Twin mentions in Chapter 6 the fact that Widmore is tied to "engineering journals about new techniques for reinforcing concrete." When Jack and Sayid encounter a thick concrete barrier while looking for the source of the electromagnetic field in The Swan, Sayid remarks, "The last time I heard of concrete being poured over everything in this way... It was Chernobyl."
- Widmore was in a partnership with Hanso for years, supporting their research by providing products and services (construction, health and medical products, etc). At some point, the two had an altercation and parted ways; Hanso has profited handsomely, but with questionable ethical practices, of which Widmore became aware. Widmore has since been searching for the island - either to benefit from it himself or to protect the world from unethical manipulation.
- Widmore Labs is connected to the DHARMA Initiative as it creates and manufactures medical supplies related to fertility and pregnancy conditions.
- Widmore Corporation, Paik Heavy Industries and possibly Minnesota Metallury are interested in finding the island for commercial gain. The unique electromagnetic properties/energy of the island can be exploited. This leads to the conclusion that the boat that is coming belongs to Widmore Corporation (and/or one of the others) and does not care about finding Desmond or the Losties (although it may have taken advantage of Penelope's search for Desmond to find the island).
- Widmore Corporation could be behind the mysterious "smoke monster" - the "island's security system" - given that in the Lost Experience, "other rumors hinted at classified defense contracting or private security work of questionable ethics"
- Disney's Atlantis features a mission to find a lost island, and the funder of the mission is named Preston Whitmore (pronounced identically as Widmore). This could be a similar link to Joop being 626, as in Lilo and Stitch. It could also be a possible reference to the statue's foot seen in the Season 2 finale: "Live Together, Die Alone".
- The Widmore Corporation is employing The Maxwell Group from Find 815 and The Maxwell Group is employing the Freighter People.
- The Maxwell Group is a subdivision of The Widmore Corporation.
- Naomi had Desmond's Photograph with her. This could have been stolen by Charles Widmore and given to members of the Maxwell Group.
- Charles Widmore employed the Maxwell Group to kill Desmond, not to save him. This is in line with Ben's statement that "everyone on this Island will be killed."
- The Widmore Corporation is modeled after the real life Cargill Corporation which, like Widmore is controlled by a Scots dynasty in the MacMillan and Cargill families. Real life Cargill is headquartered in a french Chateau within the same 55391 (Wayzata) area as the real Henry Gale. It also just so happens the real Founding family of 3M lived just up shore from Cargill, and was married in to the family that ran the real Honeywell Corporation.
