Theories may be removed if ...
  1. Stated as questions or possibilities (avoid question marks, "Maybe", "I think", etc).
  2. More appropriate for another article.
  3. Illogical or previously disproven.
  4. Proven by canon source, and moved to main article.
  5. Speculative and lacking any evidence to support arguments.
  6. Responding to another theory (use discussion page instead).
  • This does not include responses that can stand alone as its own theory.
  • Usage of an indented bullet does not imply the statement is a response.

See the Lostpedia theory policy for more details.

Reason for Production Use

  • Used to convey the feelings of chaos and disarray after the crash.
  • Is merely set dressing.

Owners Identity

  • Belonged to Christian Shephard. This theory is supported by Christian's appearance in "White Rabbit", in which he is wearing white tennis shoes similar, if not identical, to the one hanging from the tree.
    • Christian is seen near where the shoe is found. Perhaps the island used the shoe as a medium in which Christian could appear in physical form.
    • Christian wears a single white tennis shoe in "The Beginning of the End".
  • Belongs to Him
  • Belongs to John Locke, as the producers hinted.
  • Belongs to Walt, Walt owns similar shoes and the shoe looks smaller than a normal adult shoe.

Other

  • Made at Hurley's shoe factory.
  • Is an island-induced hallucination.
    • Why would the island make jack think he was seeing a shoe?
  • If the recurrence of objects that are black and white represent good and evil, then the owner of the shoe is one of the "good guys." Meaning that if the shoe belongs to Christian Shepard, as is a popular theory, then in the overall story of LOST, he is good.
