Merging

  • Hi, although we appreciate the help please do not merge articles. We prefer only Sysops merge articles as we can then also delete them and when users merge articles it can create controversy and arguments as has been shown in the past. We ask you leave merge nominations for sysops to look at. We will merge them when we feel the time is right, sometimes we wait for a while if there are few votes as will happen during the hiatus however if we believe a merge should be performed immediately we will do so. Thanks again, -Mr.Leaf 11:40, 8 September 2007 (PDT)

New Templates

  • Hi, although we don't mind users trying to create new templates that are useful to the site, many of the tempaltes you recently created are not used and IMO seem pointless. if you wouldn't find putting a rational explaining their use on the talk pages so we know their purpose. Thanks -Mr.Leaf 18:55, 10 September 2007 (PDT)

Procedure

  • I don't really care either way, it's nice that we have more information re: the Observation Room-- you appear to have taken this as a personal challenge and I can assure this is not the case. The main point we'd like you to take from this is that if you are going to do original research, you really need to document it. Just writing it and claiming it's true isn't good enough for content like this on Lostpedia. Therefore in the future please cite references or screencaps as necessary. Also, please specify if that's an episode screencap or a promotional still (or some other set photo). Thanks again. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 21:12, 12 September 2007 (PDT)
  • Please leave any information regarding the photos on the talk page for that article, or the photo itself, and not on my user talk page. Also there is a difference between an ABC promotional still, an unauthorized fan photo, or a leaked continuity still from say the props department. If DarkUFO cites his source, please list it, but leave my user talk page out of the primary discussion. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 16:39, 14 September 2007 (PDT)

Your sig

  • Your sig is leaking an extra leading space, leading to a box around the datestamp. If you need help fixing it, please drop me a line. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 21:18, 12 September 2007 (PDT)

Observation

Look, im sorry and it is nothing personal, its just my opinion on that article. The pictures that are on the discussion page have not featured in a Lost episode, and the one on the article is barely viewable.--Lewis-Talk-Contribs 08:32, 13 September 2007 (PDT)

Posting on User page

Hey, if that happens to be a big part of lost il quit lostpedia. Hows that? On another note, please dont post on my user talk page if it is something we are discussing already on another talk page (observation room discussion). I am entitled to my opinion and I do not need to be "bullied" into what you believe (which, in my opinion is what you are doing, sending messages to other users who do not hold your view posting sarcastic comments. If you wish to post your view, or back up your argument, please do it on the relevent talk page. --Lewis-Talk-Contribs 13:19, 14 September 2007 (PDT)

  • Well said; posting on user pages is akin to making these issues "personal matters", where it is absolutely not so. The facts, opinions, and discussion have their own merits, and their own place (the article talk pages). Please don't spam your own personal issues on userpages. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 16:39, 14 September 2007 (PDT)

Dismabiguation pages

Please don't reformat disambiguation pages with content which is extraneous to disambiguation. I understand where you are coming from but we are loosely following WP here, so if you'd like to really look at that, see WP:disambiguation. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 22:49, 17 September 2007 (PDT)

Vandalism

  • Regarding User:Dilley56 and your response to his vandalism, next time please:
    1. Inform a sysop of vandalism. We can revert vandalism very easily, so don't even bother doing that if there is a lot, since that just makes it harder for us. Also, we can ban the individual. We didn't even notice it until another user pointed it out to us.
    2. Don't vandalize the user's userpage, as you did. Again, it doesn't help the problem. It may satisfy you in some way, but it doesn't help the wiki, and it doesn't help the sysops know that a problem exists.
Thanks -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 13:18, 25 September 2007 (PDT)
  • Also, if you do attempt to correct vandalism (which we discourage in favor of simply reporting it), please use a reversion, and clearly mark it as a reversion in your edit summary. In other words, go to the HISTORY of the page, and click on the version previous to the vandalism. Then click EDIT, then save it with a summary, for example "Revert to last version by Santa". -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 13:22, 25 September 2007 (PDT)

Re-uploading images

Hi, thanks for uploading new versions of images. But in the future when you upload a new version of an image, please upload over the old version. On the image page, click on "Upload a new version of this file" and it will save your new version of the image at the same file name location. This way is much preferred because a) you don't have to go to each page on which the image appears and change the image, b) we don't have to go through the deletion process, c) we can easily keep track of all previous versions in the image file history, and d) we can keep the talk history. Thanks. -- Graft   talk   contributions  10:17, 25 February 2008 (PST)

Ok yeah, that's usually a cache issue where if you wait long enough or purge your cache, the image will look distorted at first, but will later update and look normal. But clearly there is some sort of bug with that image. I will ask around and look into that, thanks. -- Graft   talk   contributions  16:56, 25 February 2008 (PST)
Yeah, I see the Hurley pic is working now as a thumb image, but there are still some issues with some of the re-uploaded pics rendering correctly - see this test page. User:Admin is looking into it. There's nothing to do on your end when uploading - seems it might just be an issue with the wiki software or the external application that manipulates the images. -- Graft   talk   contributions  09:05, 27 February 2008 (PST)
  • It seems to have been fixed - the re-uploaded images are all rendering properly now. You should be ok to save images over older ones. -- Graft   talk   contributions  17:11, 3 March 2008 (PST)

Nice
