From Lostpedia
Hey, first of all I would like to welcome you to Lostpedia. Secondly, I would just like to make a friendly suggestion. You have posted your email adress on your userpage. However this is not the best option. The reason I say this is because posting your email address here means it can be easily read by Bots. So, as a suggestion I would recommend you use this website to make it into an image, then upload it here and post it on your user page. Just as an added bit of security. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. -Mr.Leaf 12:02, 20 March 2007 (PDT)

Your sig, userpage and sockpuppet
Hi. You appear to have coding errors in your sig. As you have noticed, this causes the timestamp to go wonky. The solution to this is not to just delete the timestamp, but rather to fix you sig. You are using a lot of elaborate code for your sig, but my guess is that you are missing a lot of closing </span> tags. Please fix it as the timestamps are useful. Also, you have a lot of coding errors on your userpage which are screwing up the Lostpedia navigation. Oh, and your userpage gives the impression that you are operating two accounts, which could be perceived as sockpuppeting.--TechNic|talk|conts 17:10, 27 February 2008 (PST)
- No worries. Basically, every time you open a <span> tag (or any tag really), you need to close it again </span>. Your sig had lots of open tags which was knocking things after them out of whack. With as much code as your sig had, I guess it's easy to lose track. As for the sockpuppet thing, I'm not really too bothered as you are clearly here to edit and not to mess things about. It was just the links to User:Presariocompaq that had me puzzled.--TechNic|talk|conts 18:09, 27 February 2008 (PST)
Image categories
Hey, no problem. I usually go through the upload log sometime during the week and make sure all the recent images are categorized - just to keep on top of it. It takes a while to get really familiar with the categories anyway -- I still have to go back and check them every now and then. -- Graft talk contributions 19:27, 1 March 2008 (PST)
Portal images
Hey, just in case you're interested, I also made some portal images of Dan and Charlotte for Portal:Freighter. -- Graft talk contributions 15:38, 5 March 2008 (PST)
- Great, no problem! Will get those now. -- Graft talk contributions 17:06, 5 March 2008 (PST)
- Yeah, I noticed that too. It took quite a bit longer with the doctor pic than I was expecting. -- Graft talk contributions 17:13, 5 March 2008 (PST)

Hatnote usage
Hey, Sam. I reverted your addition of a disambig hatnote to black rocks. The basic idea is that somebody searching for the ship couldn't end up there inadvertently, as opposed to how somebody searching for a "black rock" might end up at the article for the ship. This Wikipedia MoS section might be relevant. Keep up the nice work, and cheers, Robert K S (talk) 19:09, 9 March 2008 (PDT)
- Well, if you actually did make that mistake, then there might be a case for having the hatnote. I didn't think anybody could mean to go to Black Rock and end up at black rocks, but with evidence to the contrary, the hatnote may be appropriate after all. Cheers, Robert K S (talk) 20:07, 9 March 2008 (PDT)
Replacing images
Hey, just a favor to ask. If you upload any images in order to replace another (like Image:Bballhead.JPG), could you take a look at the older one and if it is no longer being used on any other pages, put a delete tag on it ({{delete|REASON HERE}})? Thanks!
Oh, and just wondering where you got Image:Cooperbattery.jpg? It would be nice to put a source on it. -- Graft talk contributions 21:18, 12 March 2008 (PDT)
Images
I noticed your comment on Jabr's talk. I copied and pasted the text (which was also not working for me) and this is what it says.
Error creating thumbnail: convert: unable to open image `/var/www/sites/www.lostpedia.com/images/3/34/Captain_Gault.JPG': Permission denied. convert: missing an image filename `/var/www/sites/www.lostpedia.com/images/thumb/3/34/Captain_Gault.JPG/300px-Captain_Gault.JPG'.
Apparently, the image dosent exist or we don't have the permissions for it. I trust an admin to fix this shortly, however. --Rhcm123|talk|contributions 20:09, 13 March 2008 (PDT)
- I have looked on other pages. Apparently other images still work. I think it might be the page, as i just tried a different image there, to no avail. --Rhcm123|talk|contributions 20:12, 13 March 2008 (PDT)
Spoilers
Hmm, I read the spoiler policy, and it looks like the information that I added isn't a spoiler, since it was on the DVD commentary. So how would you recommend is the best way to add the information to the appropriate articles? --Elonka 18:47, 15 March 2008 (PDT)
- It seems like you might be continuing a discussion started elsewhere. What information are you referring to? If it's not a spoiler, go ahead and find the right place to add it. Note that if it's spoiler-ish, just because it's not technically a spoiler doesn't mean it's appropriate to edit into articles anywhere irrespective of relevance. The key is to find the right place to add the information. Robert K S (talk) 20:00, 15 March 2008 (PDT)
- I've been rewatching Season 3 on DVD, especially the audio commentary. In a few places, a character is shown (such as Annie, Horace, or Olivia), and Cuse & Lindelof make a big deal about how these characters are going to be of huge importance later in the story. I feel that this kind of information is useful to add to the articles on those characters. Then again, it's also "future stuff" information, which is why I tagged it with a spoiler. Then again, according to the Lostpedia Spoiler policy, it's not really a spoiler, since it's publicly-available information on the DVD.
- I'll freely admit that I'm new to the Lostpedia editing community (though I'm an admin on other wikis). But I'll adapt to whatever your guidelines are here. :) It seems to me that according to your current policy, the information should just be added to the articles without any tag. Other possible options are that I add a "future plans" section, or link to a general spoilers page somewhere. Given my choice, I'd take the first option (just adding it), but I will gladly accept direction here. --Elonka 20:52, 15 March 2008 (PDT)
- When I posted my last message, I thought this was a spoiler policy talk page I was posting to, not Sam's talk page. Sorry, Sam. Elonka, I think your remarks may be suitable for the trivia sections of their respective articles so long as they're phrased as quotes, as you've been doing, and don't involve individual judgment/speculation. Robert K S (talk) 21:00, 15 March 2008 (PDT)
- Can do, thanks! And sorry for any missteps on my part. Lostpedia is a great resource and I'm eager to help out. :) --Elonka 21:10, 15 March 2008 (PDT)

Sandbox
Hi Sam. I'm just going to cut and paste my comment form the Plot Twist talk page: "I think we should keep talking this through and wait for some other users to throw their ideas into the melting pot before we start to clean this article up. Once the ideas start to come into focus, we can create example articles in our own userspaces so that we can hack them up as much as we like without ruffling anyone's feathers". Although I think what you're doing is right, as we well know, this a sensitive area. Just an idea, but maybe make yourself a sandbox and try and redesign the article. I'm going to have a play around with it over the next few days too and see if I can construct a useful table to help categorize them. Cheers--TechNic|talk|conts 20:43, 2 April 2008 (PDT)
re comment
You gave an edit summary on Image:4x05 Penny's clock.jpg "Undo revision 405906 by LOSTonthisdarnisland (Talk) DON'T REMOVE ALL CONTENT FROM A PAGE!)". Before you jumped to that wrong conclusion, did you check to see who uploaded that image? I was the uploader, and a very short time later I discovered that my very fuzzy SC was unnecessary (it was only uploaded for a talk page discussion anyway) because what I was looking for existed already in the background of another pre-existing image. Please don't "yell" at me without all the facts, eh? I'm undoing your revert because the delete tag is appropriate, as I was trying to correct my own mistake! -- LOSTonthisdarnisland 17:26, 7 April 2008 (PDT)
- I don't have a history; I made one mistake based on a poorly written comment from a SysOp. Again, I didn't remove all the content. I
addedreplaced what I personally wrote with a delete tag you removed with your edit. I don't understand what the problem is. -- LOSTonthisdarnisland 19:51, 7 April 2008 (PDT) Edit to clarify that I replaced my own words, written in error based on the situation. 21:40, 7 April 2008 (PDT)
Re: Help with layouts
I dont really know what i want lol so i will just mess around with the things on it lol But thx for help and for speedy response ^-^ -The Island
Fair use
Fair use means, essentially what it means. It is a declaration that we believe the images we are using are used fairly to illustrate a point that is made within an article. By making a viewable gallery of images, we are then going against fair use, because we are using images not just to illustrate the content within an article, but are using far more than we actually need to get our point across. The way we work it, is that a few images per article is sufficent. And the image that is their now more than gets the point across. Plkrtn talk contribs email 20:42, 12 April 2008 (PDT)
- You can view them as a list, but not as a gallery at. If you want galleries, external sites is the way. Plkrtn talk contribs email 20:46, 12 April 2008 (PDT)
Freighter portal
Thanks for the heads-up, Sam. I'll leave it to (you or) somebody else to create Image:Portal-Mayhew.jpg. Robert K S (talk) 19:40, 11 May 2008 (PDT)
Cast Crossovers Page
Your page is a great idea, but just one question. The actor who plays michael definitivley was in 28 weeks later, (see the wiki page), so why do you keep deleting it off your page? --Rhcm123|talk|contributions 19:19, 13 May 2008 (PDT) Ahh, thanks! But perhaps you should just have somthing like a bulleted list of things like that, beneath the main list. Sorry about my confusion! Cheers! --Rhcm123|talk|contributions 19:24, 13 May 2008 (PDT)
Editing my main page
Hi McPherson, I was just wondering how or if I could get access to the portals (the boxes with the picture of a character in them, and when you click on, it brings you to their main page) so that I would be able to post these on my main page. Thanx a lot!!! Marko 18:47, 14 May 2008 (PDT)
