Days?

  • Hey Pyramidhead, I was just wondering why you change some of the days from like (Days 93-) to (Days 93-94). I'm not sure I understand the logic behind you doing it? ~ Unfortunate
    • Only two days have gone by. To me, it's clearer to establish that in the title, so's not to confuse anybody. --Pyramidhead 16:10, 15 February 2008 (PST)

Nav-Miles

  • I deleted the Miles Nav you made. Nav bars are meant for very complex ideas or relationships between numerous different people, places, things, episodes, etc. They are used when a given character or plot or whatever has a great number of articles relating to it. 3 articles does not constitute a nav bar especially for a character with only 1 FB scene. If Miles gets more FB time in the future a nav may be in order but for now, it's not. If we made navs for every character we could relate an ep too and a person from their past we'd have dozens of navs on most articles, something that is cluttering and not need. Hope you understand. If you have any questions let me know. -Mr.Leaf 21:11, 8 February 2008 (PST)

Image uploads

Hi, regarding your recent uploads of season 4 character promo pics, if you have a new version of a photo to upload (especially if it's the exact same shot but different aspect ratio, resolution, or what have you), please upload the version over the older version. You can do this by clicking "Upload a new version of this file" on any image page. This way, we don't have duplicate image files, and there is also a history stored of all previous versions of the image, any of which can be reverted to any point. Thanks! Also, I was wondering why you chose those new versions; most of them have the "Credit Lily Ford" watermarks on them. I think those are less desirable than the ABC watermarks (which are translucent and from the official source, anyway). Other than the different watermarks, most of the images don't seem any different. -- Graft   talk   contributions  08:38, 13 February 2008 (PST)

  • I see you uploaded character promo pics to separate files again (this is the third round of those images!) I'm off to go find the old ones to delete them (btw, please mark unused images with {{delete|REASON HERE}}) and re-categorize the new ones (the way to do the ones you uploaded would be, for example, {{image|copy=promo|season 4|Juliet}} or {{image|copy=tvs|4x03|Charlotte}}). -- Graft   talk   contributions  23:19, 26 March 2008 (PDT)
    • I tried uploading to the same filename, but for some reason it doesn't update the images. If it's a different size image, it'll just show the old one really stretched. Sorry I didn't mark them, I'll do that next time. --Pyramidhead 23:30, 26 March 2008 (PDT)
They don't update right away, they take sometimes about a day, and can also not update just because of your browser cache. For instance, I re-uploaded Image:1x02 Sawyer Close Up.JPG yesterday, and it didn't appear correctly until today. This method is much preferred, even if they appear stretched for a little bit, because we can preserve the image histories, talk pages, and not have to switch out all the pages on which they appear. -- Graft   talk   contributions  23:37, 26 March 2008 (PDT)
Ok. This will probably be my last update to those pics, just wanted to get rid of the watermark and make them the same size. Thanks for the tip! --Pyramidhead 23:49, 26 March 2008 (PDT)
  • Why are you uploading different versions of station logos to different files? -- Graft   talk   contributions  23:38, 28 March 2008 (PDT)
    • These ones match the background color of the infobox, so there's no white patches around the logo. It's so the original ones can with the white background can still be used on the logos page.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pyramidhead (talkcontribs) .

248px?

Out of curiousity, what's the deal with resizing all the character infobox images from 250px to 248px? Robert K S (talk) 20:05, 25 March 2008 (PDT)

That was a goof. I saw that someone's (Kate's?) picture was that size and assumed they all were. Sorry about that, I'll fix it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pyramidhead (talkcontribs) 2008-03-25T22:06:43.
Okay... next question... why are you italicizing somes names in some nav templates? Robert K S (talk) 20:52, 25 March 2008 (PDT)
I'm italicizing everyone who's died on the show, just an idea I had. I can change it back if you want. --Pyramidhead 20:53, 25 March 2008 (PDT)
Yes, I just realized what you were doing. I don't necessarily disagree with your action, but I disagree entirely with how you're taking it. When you come across big changes on a wiki, the proper thing to do is to discuss first, then implement. If your idea is good, it'll get consensus, and the upshot of this is that you won't have to do all the work--others will join in and assist. So, please stop making changes that affect numerous articles, and post your idea at an appropriate talk page first. (If you don't know where to go, you can always post to Talk.) Cheers, Robert K S (talk) 20:57, 25 March 2008 (PDT)

Infoboxes

Hey Pyramidhead - Robert said to bring this issue to you (its about character infoboxes). I've noticed that some characters have all seasons "crossed-out" at the bottom of their infoboxes (see: Keamy, Omar, Dave) - why is this? Is there any way we can help insure links for them being provided on the Character appearances page like other characters?--Overworkedirish 17:33, 29 March 2008 (PDT)

I'm actually not sure. I reused the code from the old Other Infobox so that if they have an entry on the Character appearances page and the Name field matches the span ID, then the link should redirect to their row in the particular season. It works for just about all the main characters, but not some of the freighter people. Gault and the science team all work fine, though. At first I thought it was somehow because their names don't have spaces in them, but Karl and Alex work. Maybe it just takes a while to update, like saving new pictures over old ones.--Pyramidhead 17:46, 29 March 2008 (PDT)
This is definitely not a cache issue. Sexy blue striped shirt girl also suffers from the anomaly. Robert K S (talk) 22:04, 29 March 2008 (PDT)
She's not in the appearances grid, though. By all rights, the links on Keamy and Omar's page should be working. --Pyramidhead 22:28, 29 March 2008 (PDT)
Where is the appearances grid and how does it inform the infoboxes? Cluelessly, Robert K S (talk) 22:33, 29 March 2008 (PDT)
Character appearances. Every row has a span for the character's name:
<span ID="KeamyS4">Keamy</span>
. If there's one for that character, then their infobox will have the link active which will direct to that row. Notice on Jack's page (or any other) that there's no code in the actual page for those links, it's done automatically. --Pyramidhead 22:36, 29 March 2008 (PDT)
But I think it runs in conjunction with Template:Character appearances Infobox Code. From what I can tell from the explanation, the season appearances have to be inputted on that template, and then it will generate strikes and links in the appropriate seasons on the character's infobox, and the links will then go right to the character's spot on the table on Character appearances. -- Graft   talk   contributions  00:32, 30 March 2008 (PDT)
That seems to do the trick. I entered Keamy and Omar in that template and now the links work appropriately in their infoboxes, but characters who aren't on the character appearances page (like Sexy blue striped shirt girl) don't work with that format, since the links can't be generated to that page. -- Graft   talk   contributions  01:04, 30 March 2008 (PDT)

punctuation and quotes

Hey, Pyramidhead... can I ask a favor? Not to modify episode templates just to place commas and periods inside quotation marks. Wiki style is to keep punctuation outside of quotation marks, except where such punctuation is part of the title or quotation. Thanks for all the great edits... Robert K S (talk) 18:06, 2 April 2008 (PDT)

Episode synopsis edits

Hi. I was just wondering, is there a reason why you're removing "Real-time events" from episode articles? AFAIK, there hasn't been a change on LP:EMOS on this matter. Don't you think it should be discussed first? --     c      blacxthornE      t

It just seems misleading to say that the episodes happen in "real time." To me, anyway, it makes more sense to divide between flashback and location. I can change it back. --Pyramidhead 12:37, 17 April 2008 (PDT)
That seems plausible, but it should be discussed, I think, before we change all episode articles. Someone might come up with an even better formula. --     c      blacxthornE      t     12:44, 17 April 2008 (PDT)

Character page timelines

  • I notice you've been correcting all the character pages in terms of which days each season was. Wouldn't it be simpler just to get rid of the days altogether? Season one, season two, etc, coupled with an episode credit at the end of each paragraph should suffice. If people want to know what days each season was they can check the timeline. Especially since it seems the timeline still has a bunch of controversy surrounding it. That said, why did we start dividing it by season anyway? Within the show the characters don't have a concept of what season of the shoe they are in. I thought the pre-island/island/post-island worked much better. Especially now with the flashbacks and flashforwards! It doesn't seem to make sense to divide character histories by the chronology of episodes aired when the episodes themselves jump back and forth within the chronology of the Lost universe. --Jackdavinci 21:58, 18 April 2008 (PDT)

Tom

Hi Pyramidhead, I reverted your move of discussion on the talk page of this article because that move would lose the 2008 part in the midst of the 2007 discussion (and this would be a separate poll than any concensus perceived before the canonicity was established by the enhanced episode of MKJ). I understand why you probably moved it, because the discuss on the article banner went to the old discussion. If you'll look at the talk page now, you'll see how by renaming the subject of the old section something other than "rename", and making sure the new discussion header is the only "rename" on the Talk page (archives excepted), solves any problems with the discuss link on the banner. :) -- LOSTonthisdarnisland 10:21, 19 April 2008 (PDT)

Song Infoboxes

  • Hey Pyramidhead - so I know you're savvy with the infobox coding and whatnot - I wanted to ask a favor. So, you know how Template:Infobox_Cast has the "IMDB Profile" option at the bottom? I'd like to have the same for Template:Infobox_Song, except with "Songfacts Profile." I looked into the code a bit, and I know that the way the IMDB thing works is that on each cast member page, the "IMDB #" is used. Well, Songfacts works the same way. See, for example, Strawberry Fields Forever (ID #116). Could you help me out with getting this in the coding? Thanks!--Overworkedirish 23:13, 26 April 2008 (PDT)

Removed UQ

Hi. I removed your question about why Staples speaks Korean, because:

  • She's a scientist, as in well-read. Moreover, she is an anthropologist, which means she is at least interested in different cultures.
  • She's free to speak any language she wants. We know that she also speaks French, but we didn't ask why.
  • It's fair to assume this (why she's learnt Korean) will not be resolved in the future, until it is.
  • It's more like a theory to assume that there was a special reason behind this.

Erika

You still didn't answer my question. Why are you insistent the article be named Erica but not Stevenson? Robert K S (talk) 20:06, 3 May 2008 (PDT)

I didn't see the "son" on there. Go ahead and change it. --Pyramidhead 20:08, 3 May 2008 (PDT)
Nope. 'Cause I'm in favor of Erika Stevens.  :-) Robert K S (talk) 20:09, 3 May 2008 (PDT)
I'm confused. Where did "Stevenson" originally pop up, anyway? --Pyramidhead 20:12, 3 May 2008 (PDT)
Where did "Erica" pop up? Robert K S (talk) 20:12, 3 May 2008 (PDT)

Omar

Okay, it was my fault. :) Omar didn't appear in the last episode. Just the injured soldier was very similar to Omar. :) At any rate for me. --Norden 10:45, 4 May 2008 (CEST)

It's cool, don't worry about it. :) --Pyramidhead 01:55, 4 May 2008 (PDT)

The Other 48 Days

It says that the flashback is from the POV of the tailies, surely this means the TAILIE characters...? Not being sarcastic but then if no one is credited with the episode of a flashback, why is it COMPLETELY a flashback??? We see Ana Lucia killing Goodwin, which is obviously her centric, Eko killing the two men, Libby putting bodies to rest etc etc... [[user:01lander|01lander|2008-05-14T18:41:27}}

Ok well i'll do that then yeah? I just don't see why, if it is completely a flashback, no characters are credited with the episode... [[user:01lander|01lander|2008-05-14T18:41:27}}

As I said, it's not one person remembering/experiencing the events. It's a narrative set in the past. The episode page refers to it as a flashback episode for the tailies for the sake of simplicity. --Pyramidhead 03:42, 15 May 2008 (PDT)
I agree that the Other 48 Days should not be listed as Eko-centric, Ana-centric, Libby-centric, etc. It is a tailie-centric as a whole. Otherwise I guess we should put "There's No Place Like Home, Part 1" as Aaron-centric since it's an O6 FF and Aaron is one of the O6! I agree with Pyramidhead on this and think the tailes' pages shouldn't have this listed as a centric ep. --CTS 18:12, 24 May 2008 (PDT)

Favor

I notice you created the articles for the reporters from "There's No Place Like Home, Part 1". If you're able to tell them all apart, could you edit the There's No Place Like Home, Part 1 transcript so that dialogue for each one is being spoken by their casting designations ("BLONDE REPORTER", etc.)? Robert K S (talk) 08:09, 16 May 2008 (PDT)

Redirects

I noticed that before the episode aired, you created articles for the actors and characters listed in the press releases from the episode. Could you please not do this? This makes it tedious for actual information about the characters to be created, because they have to go through the redirects. Thanks. -- Sam  T  C  12:16, 16 May 2008 (PDT)

Episode names in italics in infoboxes

Please don't embark on this project until you've gotten some semblance of consensus for it. Robert K S (talk) 23:23, 3 June 2008 (PDT)

Just changing a few so people know how it will work. --Pyramidhead 23:23, 3 June 2008 (PDT)
If you want to make a few examples for demonstration purposes, the proper way to do so is to make a sandbox and link to it. Thanks! Robert K S (talk) 23:28, 3 June 2008 (PDT)

General consensus

Hello Pyramidhead. Before you change the Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, and Season 4 pages from character appearances to credited cast, please ask for a general consensus on the change in the article's talk page. I don't agree with switching to credited count and I think it should stay at appearances. Before implementing a change like that, please ask for general consensus on a talk page. Thanks! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by CTS (talkcontribs) 2008-06-08T00:02:51.

Dead/Alive statuses

Since you undid both of my edits, perhaps this is a better place to ask. Several characters have been revealed to be dead in flashforwards. I adjusted Elsa and Nadia accordingly. Is there some guideline for how such flashforward deaths are meant to be handled? Are flashforwards not considered to be part of the show's present-day timeline (i.e. these people aren't dead yet, even if they will die in the "future")? I'd appreciate some clarification. Cheers, -Jslost 18:14, 18 June 2008 (PDT)

There's no consensus yet that I know of. Right now, the practice seems to be indicating that the person is alive, and adding the date of death below, so it's clear that it eventually will happen. --Pyramidhead 18:16, 18 June 2008 (PDT)
Then...what's the point of even including a status? -Jslost 16:07, 19 June 2008 (PDT)
What? The status is whether the person is alive or deceased at the current place in the story. Not whether they'll be alive or deceased at some arbitary point in the future. If that were our basis, then every character on Lost would be deceased. In any case - anyone who has died in a flashforward will, at some point, have their status changed as soon as the current, present-time story has moved past the date that they died. --Pyramidhead 18:44, 19 June 2008 (PDT)

Crossovers

Just wanted to say, good work on the Cast crossovers page. Keep it up! =] -- Sam  T  C  18:01, 13 July 2008 (PDT)

Just wondering how you get all those. IMDb? Your general knowledge? Some other site? --Blueeagleislander 18:23, 17 July 2008 (PDT)
IMDb and a lot of free time. I was bored that day, what can I say :) --Pyramidhead 21:34, 17 July 2008 (PDT)
You completly messed the page up. I spent hours doing the TV show cast members in alphabetical order. WTF did you do? Why did you remove names? Ugh.
