Nice Work

Hello,

Nice work on the front page. It was definitely getting stale and needed some color! --Admin 15:49, 25 January 2006 (PST)

You all every Butties mysterious?

Um, There's no mystery, the band was in decadence and they needed the money and they took the most humiliating job possible... Maybe we could create a tag for 'Funny'. I won't move it because I respect you, but I believe it needs its own tag. --GodEmperorOfHell 10:35, 2 February 2006 (PST)

I'll move it tomorrow as I'm just off to bed! --Plkrtn 17:31, 2 February 2006 (PST)

images on character portal

instead of making minis of all of the images cant you just set the width to somthing like 75px and it'll scale down to that size? 75px KoolAidMan 19:29, 19 May 2006 (PDT)

You can do it like that, but I'm aware of the mess of a job most browsers do at rescaling an image, rather than letting a graphics design picture do the work. --Plkrtn 19:33, 19 May 2006 (PDT)
In my experience as long as the page is valid html then the browser does fine, media wiki does all fo the coding for you, this would save so much time too. image: kman.png       talk contribs                   19:35, 19 May 2006 (PDT)

filming locations

MI:III and Star Trek IX

Ok, here's the deal; I deleted them because if we started including every project that the LOST people is involved into we would never end. We don't have an entry on The Middleman that was scripted by Javier Grillo Marxuach or the sitcom Cynthia Watros will be in next season. My opinion is that this is not the JJAbramsopedia or the Lindelof and Cuse database. There have been minor references to LOST in ALIAS and yet we don't have an ALIAS entry. You might be angry at me, but My opinion is we don't need those entries when that info can be included inside the creative team's individual entries. I am not opposed to having them as redirects to a subsection of the respective entry. But I would love to hear more opinions. †††GodEmperorOfHell††† --10:08, 24 May 2006 (PDT)

Some help with deleting

I've been working to consolidate the references to some of the tools and resources that folks use to analyze the web pages and secret codes (in Lost Experience and other sections) but got a little carried away with the categories.

My thinking is that 'HTML_tools' shouldn't be a (sub)category, just an end page with the content it has now, referencing 'Resources'. However, I can't delete the page and would like your (sysop) help for this. I've already created a non-category version of the page.

If there is a simple yet obvious way to do this, let me know. I'm asking you because I "fear" GEoH's response.

Thanks, Dmuk 12:48, 24 May 2006 (PDT)

Ok, read the discussion on MI:III and star trek. I deleted the articles without realizing you had created them, >I guess that's an official sorry. But anywho, I'll just have to go with you on this, I am so bloody tired with the novajoee23 vs. novajoe24 thing and the scott vs. steve affair. And I need to have lunch. †††GodEmperorOfHell††† --15:05, 24 May 2006 (PDT)

Faux Novajoe is here.

Ok, it's four of us and one of him. please be alert. †††GodEmperorOfHell††† --17:11, 24 May 2006 (PDT)

Afraid not.

Thunderbird and I discovered the hard way that it only prevents you from editing pages, not from accessing special functions as delete and unblock. He blocked us and we still could undo much of the damage and we could unblock ourselves pretty easily. We gotta concentrate on undoing deletions and other automatic things. †††GodEmperorOfHell††† --17:27, 24 May 2006 (PDT)

User:MrSurge

Thanks for banning him temporarily. -- Ramirez Selvarn 17:44, 24 May 2006 (PDT) MrSurge Replies: If a person is coming to this site an hour before the airing of the show, Is he/she not looking for spoilers, I marked my changes with the spoiler tag. There was no warnings on the main page before I started editing, only after. As european viewers, you will get spoilers prior to your airing or downloading anyhow. I'm not sure the reason for the policy.

10pm??

Should we make the no_spoiler template expire at 11pm EST tonight, as the show ends then?

Since I'm PST, would it be reasonable to ask that no spoilers be posted until 11pm PST?

XSG 18:05, 24 May 2006 (PDT)

Rollback on Third Policeman?

You are counting that comment as a spoiler??! Awww...come on :) At least re-advance it after the ban then? PanSavant 18:22, 24 May 2006 (PDT)

Hi there, I am marking pages for deletion for a reason, if I mark them as stubs there is a chance for them to remain stubs forever and I am hoping for someone to fix them and save them from being eliminated. I reverted your last edit of Golden Retriever because you eliminated the categories and as you know I empty the uncategorized pages list every once in a while. I am also deleting pages that have information that is very scant and not very useful that link toi no other entry. If I see an entry is very small and only one article links to it I include its content in the referring entry and delete the original, that's why I deleted HTTP and SMTP. Just keeping things clean. --†††GodEmperorOfHell††† 07:04, 28 May 2006 (PDT)

There is a vast difference between removing relevant things that people might search for, and removing nonsense posts like HTTP and SMTP. The podcast refers to several things that people might search, and it looks worse for us if we don't have an article on them at all. I'd rather a stub than a screen saying "Nothing matching this search term". -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  07:06, 28 May 2006 (PDT)

When is an article too short? Why can't a term be a redirect to a relevant section of a larger article that may contain information that the user was not looking for but would be sueful?. Let's say I look for 'Freckles', shall we have a complete entry on it or redirect to the proper section of List of Nicknames? Why can't we have a Production Glossary that includes all those terms and redirects to it?--†††GodEmperorOfHell††† 07:11, 28 May 2006 (PDT)

Great suggestions. But for the mean time, you don't delete existing articles without replacing them with something like your idea! Its not wiki-quette. -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  07:13, 28 May 2006 (PDT)

That's why we have the delete template, so it can be removed. As a matter of fact I want to be contradicted. I am also agains unilateral decisions. So, let's continue. thanks for your observations.

Our prisoner in the Hatch.

Regarding Faux Novajoe23, Someone claiming to be him (can we really tell the difference?) sent me the explanation about this guy who we knew initially as Natedog, who saw him typing his password and recognizing the word, and he thought that all his good effort was laid to waste because of that one incident. But let me tell you I also received a very threatening hate mail from Natedog containing crude and racist remarks. Not the same e-mail, but who can tell these days? I am fond of Novajoe, but we cannot risk it. I agree with you. Let the block continue. --†††GodEmperorOfHell††† 07:41, 29 May 2006 (PDT)

All articles are now Protected from Moves

TO: All Sysops

Our most recent troll found a really annoying way to automate a ton of edits. Making the rolling back process take much much longer. He made rollbacks very difficult by deleting the content on the article, saving and then moving the article to a new location.

Long story short. I have updated the database to force every article to be move protected. Only Sysops have the rights to move articles from one place to another.

When this vandal returns, we will be able to roll back his changes in the normal EASY way. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, Admin --Admin 07:25, 8 July 2006 (PDT)

That's only fixing the symptom instead of the "illness". But thanks for the info, didn't know that. ;) --skks 00:07, 6 September 2006 (PDT)

"Crusades"

I, I am a jedi not a baboon, am not accusing system opps of going on these crusades, as you call them. I am merely stating that you personally have accused nearly every last one of the parody theories, single handedly, and I feel as if i have the rights to state that. Before you came into power, all of the parodies where left alone and we where in peace. If you keep accusing them, we shall have none left. If these are not crusades, then why have you suddenly attacked each and every one of the parodies, from what i see?

previews

  • aplogies, I'll try to be better about it. Some of it is by virtue of editing subsections, and some of it is carelessness; I'll be more careful. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T01:52, 7 September 2006 (PDT)
  • I'm trying to be more careful about this as well, but just a note in our defense... some of it also comes from the fact that when starting new pages like YouTube videos and World Locations, we are steadily finding links as we filter through dozens of old articles, they aren't all editing issues, it's just a content issue with long lists. But I can understand why it could make a sysop's work harder. Take care... --PandoraX 04:25, 7 September 2006 (PDT)

TWoL

Take a look at Template:TWoL. That should do the trick. If we need to add or remove countries we can create a TWoLv2, v3 etc and use that on future dates. This template will add the weekly pages to Category:TWoL. I have updated a few of them, but figured I'd leave the rest for you to try out. As far as design goes, that is flexible as long as the variables stay the same. I'm not sure if I like having the nested tables with borders, but that seems to be the best way to split the information up. --   Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 12:09, 8 September 2006 (PDT)

I wouldn't bother going to much farther ahead. ABC hasn't even released the episode names yet. --   Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 17:43, 8 September 2006 (PDT)

I think it looks better with all the flags being the same size. Right now it looks goofy with small US and CA, and larger UK, AU, & ZA. Also, I think it's better to leave the full text of the country names - perhaps in a smaller font. I know most of the abreviations, but I have to admit I had to look up what ZA was. --   Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 17:30, 10 September 2006 (PDT)

Fan theories template

An editor requested the addition of a serious LOST theory to the Fan Theories template. Could you do so, since it is locked presently? Thanks. --Scottkj 16:40, 9 September 2006 (PDT)

Featured Article

Hey I think the Staff logo used for the front page is a little small really, could we enlarge it/use a bigger image? --Nickb123 (Talk) 07:37, 11 September 2006 (PDT)

Fan Theory

Hey could you add my fan theory, Valenzetti Island (theory) to Template:Theories please, under realist. The template is protected so can't do it myself. Thanks, --Nickb123 (Talk) 03:40, 13 September 2006 (PDT)

P.S. there's a pic on the Jamie Silberhartz page you might like as no#5 for your userpage... --Nickb123 (Talk) 04:43, 13 September 2006 (PDT)

LTDA Rebroadcast US

ABC confirmed yesterday (9/12) that "Live Together, Die Alone" will rebroadcast on 9/25/06 from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm EST. Check out the Lost press release section.[1] Just wanted to let you know so the main page can be updated.--scocub

Apologies

Sorry for the part I played in fuelling the flame war on that Lost Experience clue talk page, I usually don't respond to silly abusive posts but when its accusing you of being e.g. sexist or racist or whatever, it usually winds me up a little more than it should. Apologies again, --Nickb123 (Talk) 13:48, 13 September 2006 (PDT)

Er, did you see the reply left on his/her user talk page after your comment lol? --Nickb123 (Talk) 13:53, 13 September 2006 (PDT)

Banning

  • Can you block CRFL78 he has been screwing up my userpage.--CaptainInsano 14:44, 13 September 2006 (PDT)
Its the same person I'm guessing. Can't we block his IP?? --Nickb123 (Talk) 14:45, 13 September 2006 (PDT)
Using multiple IPs. I don't really want to block them as they could be drone PCs acting as unknowing proxies --plkrtn 14:46, 13 September 2006 (PDT)

Is this guy using a dynamic rotating IP? --PandoraX 14:47, 13 September 2006 (PDT)

seems it. This is why we need more than 10 of us to admin!! --plkrtn 14:48, 13 September 2006 (PDT)
