Otherville
Hey Noel, welcome to lostpedia. Sorry your first post got deleted.
Your post said that Otherville wasn't on the main island, and made it sound like it was on a much smaller piece of land (which is obviously not true from what is shown - if it was on a second island, it would be one almost as big as the "losties" island, complete with mountains). On an island so big, I'm not sure why the others would be so concerned about getting to the other island since they had so much space available already. If there was a second island so close to the first, wouldn't the losties be able to see it? If they were on a different island, why would Ethan and Goodwin be going off on foot (and why wouldn't Henry make mention of going to the other island instead of just "the shore")? I assume the concern over the boat is merely that they might escape or get around to other parts of the island that aren't as easily accessable. I suppose it's possible that there's a part of the island that is separated by water from the rest, but from the shots of the village, it sure doesn't look like that part.
I think you need to take edits a little less personally, it's just one deleted theory, not "the integrity of the site". If I have misunderstood your theory, feel free to try putting it up explained differently. Just know that if people feel it has already been disproven or is unsupported, it may get deleted or changed again. Nothing personal, it happens to everyone. And if you see theories that are completely crackpot, feel free to delete them (although they may get posted again).
Here's the wide shot of where the village is, you can see that the land is connected all the way to where the plane bits land. --Minderbinder 16:18, 16 October 2006 (PDT)
Two Islands
Good call on the two islands thing. But I think Every Man for Himself made it pretty clear that Otherville is on the main island, not the second island (specifically the statement that the Hydra island is only twice the size of alcatraz). And it's not a matter of "trusting your judgement", it's whether a theory is supported or not. And in this case, I don't think the picture supports that theory at all - the right chunk of plane is headed toward land that is visibly connected to the land where the Others live. Anyway, I hope you continue to contribute to Lostpedia - the theory sections get heavily edited all the time, so if something you add gets deleted, you can always try and refine it - also, the talk pages are always fair game to post any sort of speculation, so if a theory of yours gets deleted from an article page, you can always add it there. Cheers. --Minderbinder 06:23, 27 October 2006 (PDT)
