Sig
- I don't know if you have realized this, but when you sign your posts on talk pages, the whole formula shows on the page. For example, look on the edits on Connor. To fix this problem is simple, just go to User:Mr.Leaf/autosig and type in . Then go to your preferences, and in the nickname space put . Don't forget to do this last part! Very critical. Once again, if you need any help, talk to me, man. And if you ever need any new colors for your sig, go here. Regards, Marik7772003 16:25, 13 December 2006 (PST)
- I could see my signature fine, and signed in anonymously and could see it when ever I signed a post so I don't know what the problem was. But I did what you said, so we'll see if it works.
- Hi Ted. Given that this is my 1st msg at your page, let me start with applauding the great work you've been doing on Lostpedia so far :) I wanted to add to Marik's note above, that the real problem seems to be having a sig which solely consists of images. 1st, unlike other users, whom when you click their sigs, it links to their pages, yours link to the image, which makes it harder to contact you. 2nd, though you used the autosig walk around, this sig structure will cause the code of your sig to still show up at every talk page you sign. Also, this poses the problem of having all these talk pages, to link to the pages of the images as well. I also had a plain sig once, but now styled it a little using great tips from User:Nickb123/page help , and studyin the code of other stylish sigs around. I'm sure that if you use these tips in styling up a linking sig, not only will sig be more functional, but will even end up more awesome :) Please feel free to contact me for anything. Regards :)-- 17:15, 13 December 2006 (PST)
- Hi, it seems that the way your sig is formatted on the page Talk:Lost Season 1 messes whatever comes below it on the page. I do not know what causes the problem, so I can't advise on how to fix it, but could you please look into it and do something to fix it? Thanks. - Cheers 20:34, 15 December 2006 (PST)

Lost Wikia
Wow, you certainly like to steal pics from Lost Wikia don't you? --Hen-Regale 03:02, 21 December 2006 (PST)
No worries man, it's just that this has been a problem in the past, and has led to a disagreement between the two sites. For a while they fought over the issue of theft of images from Lost Wikia, so I just thought I'd let you know. --Hen-Regale 11:39, 21 December 2006 (PST)

Disambig Listing
Hey, I didn't realize you were doing all this by hand... kudos to you for hard work. I almost hate to point this out to you, but you do know, we have Category:Disambiguation already, which alphabetizes all the disambig pages automatically? --PandoraX 09:01, 4 January 2007 (PST)
Reverting
Hey hope you don't mind, Mr. Leaf... Marik will also probably come around soon, but I already wrote out some details on reverting on this page: Lostpedia:Vandalism Thanks for helping lewis out earlier with all that stuff. --PandoraX 14:38, 4 January 2007 (PST)
Scientology Guy
Interesting, thanks for pointing it out. When I saw your msg, I thought it was like deja vu, because I had just given a warning about the exact same type of vandalism (Scientology => Stupidity) the other day, his name is User:Benny1. Looks like it might be the same guy with a second account, so may just have to ban after all. --PandoraX 10:47, 6 January 2007 (PST)
Voice Actors
I think that that looks pretty good. Are you thinking of having one page for all voice actors, and putting the chart on that? I think that would be a good idea, rather than having separate pages. Either way, it looks good. I'll get more of the Spanish voice actors in today. Keep up the good work on Lostpedia! --Marik7772003 15:21, 8 January 2007 (PST)
- I think that if we had to go to Voice actors (Jack) it would be nice, but only if someone had true anger about creating so many pagesfor minor voice actors, but I don't think that it will come to that. After all, the point of Lostpedia is to be the most comprehensive source of info about Lost on the web, and as we add voice actors, it will grow and grow. It makes for a better wiki. But, if a SysOp or a high and respected member truly objected to it, I would go to the Voice actors (Jack) format quickly. :) --Marik7772003 15:54, 8 January 2007 (PST)
- Good work. I wanted to separate the two complete sets of Czech dubbers into to discrete columns, and noticed you had added that content in the first place. Could you do that? -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 19:29, 11 January 2007 (PST)
- I'm somewhat not convinced of the efficiency of an article for "voice actors for character X" for all characters. It almost seems as if that would become more cumbersome; and should we ever begin to expand existing voice actor articles, then it would become downright confusing to have both. At this point, I'm on the fence about having articles for all of the voice actors individually, but then again it's not a server performance issue. I mean just a year ago, there was a debate on whether we needed to have articles for every minor guest actor, and look at our treatment of guest actor articles now! IMHO I wouldn't leave a bunch of empty red article links around; make what we have the energy for now, then leave the rest unwikified. As for your idea for organizing by characgter however, it's a good idea indeed, and can be served by categories: Category:Voice actors (Jack). I was also going to add cats for each language, Category:Voice actors (French) or French voice actors, etc. For cats, I'd probably combine the multiple sets for Spanish, and the same for Czech: Voice actors (Spanish), Voice actors (Czech). Dude, you rock
I just want to tell you that your hard work is enormously appreciated. You're a real inspiration to me, cause I just sit around browsing the site a lot of the time while you work a lot harder at improving the wiki. Kudos to you. Heck, if you keep this up, I wouldn't be surprised if you become a SySop at some point in the future. Anyway, have a great day and enjoy your time on Lostpedia.--LOCI!

RE: Templates
Hi, no problem, I'm looking at it now. Here is the Character section now:
<div style="clear:left;font-size:10px;text-align:center">
<div style="width:80px;float:left;text-align:left;">Character</div>
<div style="width:170px;float:left;text-align:right;">{Character}</div>
</div>
I think you might want to define a new variable, maybe called "Character2", and then conditionally print it. This should work:
<div style="clear:left;font-size:10px;text-align:center">
<div style="width:80px;float:left;text-align:left;">Character</div>
<div style="width:170px;float:left;text-align:right;">{Character}
{{#if:{}|, {Character2}}}
{{#if:{}|, {Character3}}}
{{#if:{}|, {Character4}}}
</div>
</div>
I went ahead and added a Character3 and Character4 as well. Yes, it is a mess :). Mediawiki's template language is very verbose, and very difficult to debug. I hope this works out. --Dagg 14:31, 20 January 2007 (PST)
- Great, glad it worked out. To fix the whitespace issue, this should work:
<div style="clear:left;font-size:10px;text-align:center">
<div style="width:80px;float:left;text-align:left;">Character</div>
<div style="width:170px;float:left;text-align:right;">{Character}{{#if:{}|
{Character2}}}{{#if:{}|
{Character3}}}{{#if:{}|
{Character4}}}</div>
</div>
It is difficult to juggle all the whitespace and still keep it readable. Best of luck, --Dagg 14:45, 20 January 2007 (PST)
Medal of Assistance
I'm hereby awarding you the medal of assistance for your transformative assistance in the dealing with voice actors. Previously, we only had a few separate lists (Spanish & French) in individual articles, or in their country pages (Japan). Now you've made an all-encompassing chart in voice actors, as well as doing 99% of the work in making each of the voice actor pages into a separate article with images and infoboxes. You've also helped focus discussion on voice actor categories that I'd been thinking about. Thank you.
you can move the below to your main page:

- Generally, character pages should stay pretty basic until the episode airs. Do not post spoiler information about a character, his/her roles in the plot etc. The actor pages are fair game though after the role is announced in the press release. Feel free to add information about the actor to this page, however do not post spoiler information about the character he or she is portraying. Stick to the absolute facts from the press releases and you'll be fine. -- Jabberwock talk contribs email - 06:50, 23 January 2007 (PST)
Podcast transcript
Just wanted to say, saw you started one, great job, thanks so much for all the help with this hard work and tedious-type stuff on lostpedia recently. It's not as "glamorous" as the article attacks, but I think it will help LP be a great resource. The transcripts do make you hate life after typing them a while, don't they? Trust me, I understand, I just finished the 53 min Comic Con one, and it took me something like 5 hours total (and I'm a fast typer). Here is a tip for the Damon/Carlton links... what I do while I'm typing, is just type out "C:" and "D:". Then, later, I cut and paste the entire thing into Notepad, and use the Find/Replace function, and replace those (make sure you include colons, or they will replace all Cs & Ds) with Damon Lindelof:. At any rate, keep up the good work, and if you find it a bear to finish, give me a holler and I can help out. Take care. --PandoraX 19:59, 24 January 2007 (PST)
- I don't think it's the kind of stuff that people jump out of their seat and say "AOTW!" over, but I think it is appreciated by the Lost fan community, and will be more so as people do searches and find that Lostpedia is really the only source for them (I did a pretty extensive search before I started, and just found a lot of forum posts asking if anyone did this sort of thing, with a lot of "No" responses). I do recall at one time one site (I think DarkUFO or similar blog) had about 4 transcripts, but they apparently took them down, unfortunately. --PandoraX 16:45, 26 January 2007 (PST) PS: If you come across any Minor debunked theories citations along the way, you can see I made that new article, feel free to add quotes. voice faces
- Going back to your old suggestion of an article on voice actors for a particular character... well we had done categories instead, but recently I've been thinking of adding articles as well, in a table format. The reason is that I thought it might be interesting to highlight the photographs of the voice actors (for the same role), all on one page. Seeing all the foreign Lockes, or Kates, etc. might be fun. However I'd probably reserve this for the main cast only at this point. What do you think?-- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 11:46, 27 January 2007 (PST)
Problem with Costume & Makeup
...was that there's an ampersand in the title; wikitext doesn't read this well, and usually just reads what is before that (Category:Costume). You can avoid this by just using "and". I'll add this to the MOS. Do you happen to remember the other Makeup guy? I forgot it, please readd to the new cat. Thanks! --PandoraX 02:44, 28 January 2007 (PST)
- Steve LaPorte and Roland Sanchez; I think I did those articles a few days ago.-- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 23:23, 30 January 2007 (PST)

Flashback chars
Just had a thought. Should we include main cast characters as well, if they appear in someone else's flashback? These fall under two types:
- "Earlier" flashbacks: In my opinion, these should be included... however photos and video make a subcase where I'm undecided but leaning towards inclusion.
- When Desmond assists with Jack's knee at the stadium, that scene makes Desmond Jack's flashback character.
- When Jack drives into the stadium just before Desmond is confronted by Penny, that scene makes Jack is a Desmond-flashback character.
- Jack walking by Shannon at the hospital. This makes Jack a Shannon-flashback character (but does not make Shannon a Jack-flashback character.)
- Photos and video:
- Sayid's photo on Sam Austen's desk is probably enough to make Sayid a Kate-flashback character. (What do you think)
- Kate's photo that Sam Austen carries is probably enough to make Kate a Sayid-flashback character.
- Hurley's appearance on TV (as seen by Byung's Daughter) is probably enough to make Hurley a Jin-flashback character.
- Day of Flight 815 flashbacks:
- Airport and pre-airport: I'm undecided whether these should be included. I don't have an entirely consistent logic, so I'm just talking this through with you to see what you think:
- Jin & Sun standing in line behind Jack when he argues with Chrissy regarding the coffin (imho: do not include)
- Locke picking up Rose's pills in the airport gate area (imho: do not include)
- Charlie in an elevator as Hurley is rushing from the hotel (undecided)
- Libby intervening in Eko and Charlotte Malkin's argument (imho: do include only because of the presence of another flashback character Charlotte)
- Boarding the airplane, flying on the airplane: I do not think these should be included:
- Jack telling Rose not to be afraid of flying
- Jack talking to Cindy regarding beverages, etc.
- Arzt boarding plane with other survivors
- Airport and pre-airport: I'm undecided whether these should be included. I don't have an entirely consistent logic, so I'm just talking this through with you to see what you think:
- Let's go with your suggestions and criteria for now (re: photos, charlie-hotel, libby) -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 12:59, 31 January 2007 (PST)
- I also wanted to confirm that 1) main cast characters may be classified as flashback characters, and 2) flashback categorization is not mutual (see Shannon/Jack and Desmond/Jack examples above)-- i.e. the category is based not on intertwining past storylines, but strictly upon whose flashback the episode is. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 13:01, 31 January 2007 (PST)

in the index on the home page it says Nikki and Paulo are main characters and Karl, Alex, and Luke are supporting characters. but when you click on the portals, Nikki and Paulo are supporting characters, and Alex, Karl, and Luke are Others. Can you fix it so the portal and the index are have the same characters? Thanks --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 15:35, 25 February 2007 (PST)

Hallo
Thanks, I did not know, that such material already exists. I from Russia and badly know the English language, but I like to visit this site —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Boone (talk • contribs) .

Multi-nav cat templates
Hey Mr Leaf--what we've been doing thus far is generally just having one nav-template per page, usually the most applicable or specific, for those articles that overlap categories. The reason is that some articles count in 4 or 5 cats/templates, and the page would be silly and long if they got inclusion for all of them; the nav-templates are just a useful tool to help people navigate, it's the categories that actually define. The only exception we've consistently made, I think, is with flashback characters that overlap. --PandoraX 06:26, 28 February 2007 (PST)
