Otherville Deletion
I am a little concerned that my theory regarding Otherville was deleted. After discussing it with several avid viewers, the conclusion was reached that you cannot tell whether or not Otherville is on the island. The mountains behind the village (in the pan shot) obscure a true relation to the larger mountain range in the distance. From that shot you see the ocean cut in from the right, but it dissapears behind the closer range. From that shot it is inclonclusive as to whether they are or ar not on the island. This I believe to be a very deliberate decision by the directors/producers. Why else would there be such concern over a boat? I visit this site regularly and regard it as my site of choice for lost info. However, there are many crackpot theories floating around on this site yet mine, backed with evidence and analytic observation, was denied a fair shot. If this is truly an open forum for the debate of valid theory, then please reverse your decision and allow my theory to stay. If not, the the integrity of this site is seriously in question due to the actions of few "theory police".—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Noel kirby (talk • contribs) .
Strikeface
Hello. :) Thanks for fixing the strike wikification if there was a problem... but I thought I'd ask, how do the two versions differ? I went through and looked at the code, I know what you did was put the before and after <strike> tags with each line, not each section. On my computer, they appear the same as the version I did, which blocked out the whole section. Maybe it looks different for other people? Just curious for future formatting. Thanks. --PandoraX 11:36, 1 September 2006 (PDT)
On my machine, the version that had strike markup around the sections instead of the lines caused the entire rest of the page following it to be struck out. Doing it individually for each line fixed it. --Minderbinder 11:47, 1 September 2006 (PDT)
The Man
- You know how I am, ready to fight to the death for what I believe. But just got word from "The Man", that we should stop shit stirring. Trust Me *wink* *wink*.--CaptainInsano 13:00, 27 September 2006 (PDT)
- Thanks for the heads up. I'm dying to see how this thing plays out. --Minderbinder 13:29, 27 September 2006 (PDT)
Your comment on the Missing parody article.
Funny :-) I'll hasten to add that Iron Chef has been given a bit of a ban due to his general obnoxiousness. -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 06:11, 2 October 2006 (PDT)
US/UK Spelling
As far as I'm aware both are accepted on Lostpedia. However, we stick to US spellings where appropriate, because as you say... its a US show... but they're very much interchangable. Changing US to UK spellings isn't on though, even if its you lot bastardising the language ;-) -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 08:28, 2 October 2006 (PDT)
- I don't really have any objection to UK spellings, especially if someone adds new content and uses it. But editing for the sole purpose of switching a spelling seems kind of pointless since there's nothing "wrong" with it in the first place. --Minderbinder 09:04, 2 October 2006 (PDT)
- I agree with you. I just thought I'd inform you of the general non-official policy that operates, both are OK, but correction of US to UK is a no no. UK to US correction is preferable but not needed either. -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 14:32, 2 October 2006 (PDT)
- Cool. That's what I had assumed, but it's good to know for sure. Thanks. --Minderbinder 14:34, 2 October 2006 (PDT)

Spam
- Thanks for pointing that out to me. I don't understand what he has against redirecting to spam. I have argued my post my opinion on his talk page, and hopefully he will have a reasonable answer. Keep it real.--CaptainInsano 18:23, 2 October 2006 (PDT)
- I don't have anything against directing to spam. Its just a matter of who checks what. SysOps check Category:Delete more than they do SPAM.
As long as someone adds the template {{delete}} to an item, it will appear in the Delete Category. This is because the categorisation is built into the delete template. -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 06:14, 3 October 2006 (PDT)

- and about the sweep part of the qoute he said something like that.--CaptainInsano 14:17, 12 October 2006 (PDT)
- A sweep for the cardinals would mean that the cardinals won all games...since they lost, a sweep of the cardinals would make more sense. And "uncanning" isn't a word, my guess would be "uncanny" but that's still kind of an odd choice of words. It would be cool if we could find the bit on youtube or something, but I haven't had any luck so far. --Minderbinder 16:00, 12 October 2006 (PDT)

That's really funky. I don't think I used the revert feature, but just snipped the single added line. Maybe my browser had something cached and went all wonky. Dunno. --Doc 06:55, 13 October 2006 (PDT)

You ask me how would I know that guyman90 was a girl well I know her in real life she is one of my friends.--Fan99 10:48, 16 October 2006 (PDT)
- Although, in actuality, Guyman90 was more than likely, another account of Fan99's that he was using in order to get people to "gang up" on Captain Insano, or to make it look like there was more than just him doing it, anyway. -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 06:42, 19 October 2006 (PDT)
Asking For Assistance
Hello. I've been editing the Hell out of the Stephen King article ever since I nominated it for AOtW a week ago and I wanted some unbiased reviews from the usual contributors. So, if you don't mind, could you take a look at it and give it a critique on my talk page?--MightyRearranger 12:38, 16 October 2006 (PDT)
Wiki
Hey Minder, yeah we just don't like wiki. We have tried to get an article there but every time it's created we get a speedy delete. Those dirty Wiki-Nazis. We have tried countless times to get an article about us on Wiki, but they just delete it. Yeah, so it's just better to just leave and let by. --Marik7772003 10:22, 17 October 2006 (PDT)

- personally, i'm beyond caring now about the debate on wiki; it's going round in circles, and i'll be very surprised at this point if it ever gets anywhere. and at the end of the day, it's not that important --kaini. 11:43, 17 October 2006 (PDT)
- Thanks for the link. I actually do agree with some of their complaints, although they seem way exaggerated and somewhat hypocritical (in some ways wikipedia is worse, I saw rumors listed on episode pages, which seems pretty lame and hardly "encyclopediac"). I think it's important that Lostpedia make sure that info sticks to things that can be verified, and keeps theories separate from factual info. I could almost see splitting out theories onto a separate /theories page for each article, like we're doing with episode spoilers now. And I'd definitely like to see some clearer site guidelines. That said, it seems like it mostly comes down to one guy on wikipedia with a personal bias against Lostpedia. It's completely absurd for them not to mention this site (especially when they have links to the equivalent wikis for virtually every other TV show in existence), and from the tone of the posts, seems mostly like they are threatened by LP and worried that they may lose readers to it. --Minderbinder 13:13, 17 October 2006 (PDT)

My Seinfeld "Downtown" reference
Hi, I was just wondering why my theory about the significance of the song "Downtown" was deleted. It was no more 'off-topic' than all the articles on Shakespeare, Peter Pan and the Wizard of Oz that are very much prominent on this site. A good explanation would be much appreciated. Mrlerone 08:23, 18 October 2006 (PDT)
- Thanks for the explanation. But I still don't think you read my post through. I wasn't just saying that it was mentioned in Seinfeld. It was that Jerry and George, like us here on this site, were picking apart the song for clues. Trying to find meaning in the lyrics. And that George had been given a job that wasn't explained, and that this song was the explanation for what he was doing. Does it not seem at all possible that the song was placed in Lost as at least a nod toward everyone picking apart items of media for some kind of hidden messages? Isn't it a little coincidental if it wasn't chosen for this particular reason? I take the point about putting it on the Downtown song page though. Thanks. But I don't think I will if someone else is just going to delete it frankly. Mrlerone 08:23, 18 October 2006 (PDT)
Fake Sites

Re: Going against the SysOps
Um, I actually only did that because GodEmperorofHell said I could, and he would lock it straight after until confirmation. --SilvaStorm
- Which is complete nonsense, because GEOH hasn't been on the site for a month. There is nothing on SilvaStorms user page to suggest he'd said it, nor on GEOH's either. You see why he's been banned for 2 weeks? Lies, going against rules... Its just unbelievable! -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 06:42, 19 October 2006 (PDT)
Theory Tab
What about having a Theory tab for each page, like the discussion tab. That way all theories wouldn't clutter up the main page for each item/episode. Thoughts?--ASEO 12:50, 19 October 2006 (PDT)

Theory policy suggestion
Hi. Left you a new suggestion for Article appropriate for theories section, on the theories talk page.-- 07:51, 3 November 2006 (PST)
Re:Portland
I usually just protect unconfirmed ones. As you've noticed, spoilers tend to be accurate when it comes to episode titles. As long as the page isn't linked to as fact I don't see a problem with it being a page that says "this is rumoured to be an episode title" etc. As long as its protected there won't be any silly spoilers about descriptions, so not that big a problem --Nickb123 (Talk) 07:39, 5 November 2006 (PST)
Re: Your comment
You said: What is up with the new articles apparently based on rumors? If it's not official, put it on a prespoiler page, not a regular article page.
- Then how come the Not in Portland page still exists? We've only had rumors for that, too. --SilvaStorm
Thanks for the heads up
Thanks for letting me know about those pages. I've sorted it out. No doubt it'll be my fault, rather than his own but hey ho! -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 16:38, 20 November 2006 (PST)

Aaron/O6
Actually, I think I messed that up... They confirmed that Jack, Kate, Sayid and Hurley as being memebers of the Oceanic Six and that the other 2 had yet to be revealed. I thought that that podcast was from after Eggtown, but I think it was actually after The Economist. But if it had been after Eggtown, then if Aaron had been one of the Six, then he would've been revealed by that episode, and they would've confirmed it. But that's not the case because of the podcast date, sorry for the confusion. Please feel free to re-add the question, I won't take it back down. Jimbo the tubby 12:18, 27 February 2008 (PST)

Re:Colleen
It was a while ago, but I think the deciding factor was that she was explicitly stated as Danny Pickett's wife. Thus, with no evidence to the contrary, it can be presumed that she took his name. --Nickb123 (Talk) 10:54, 9 March 2008 (PDT)
Security Force
Greetings -
Please explain why you deleted my security force question.
Thanks,

- Because it's more theory than unanswered question - the show has given no hint that he has one, so the notion that he has one is speculation. --Minderbinder 11:21, 16 May 2008 (PDT)
UAQ
The UAQ that you are insisting on are really secondary and trivial questions. Who cares how Aaron was fed and what does it have to do with the main story? You are trying to put back something that one of the Lostpedia admins have previously removed. I think we need to respect the admin's decision otherwise there will be chaos here.--Messenger 12:50, 22 May 2008 (PDT)
- You think they are trivial, other editors obviously don't agree. It has to do with the main story because it's something that raises suspicion with the O6 story. And what would being "secondary" matter anyway? LOST has main plots and subplots, since when do UQ's have to be limited only to main plot points? --Minderbinder 12:56, 22 May 2008 (PDT)
bring back the casualties petition
After the events that happend with deleting the 5 casualty articles, me and some other users started a petition for bringing those articles back on Lostpedia. If you share our opinion on this matter, please sign the "Save The Redshirts" section on my user page. If you want you could contact other users about this or create a "Save the redshirts" section on your user page, because the goal is to get as many users to sign the petition as possible along with 6 SysOps (Admins). I would appriciate a quick respond and a sign on either my user page or User:LostCloverfield42's page. --O r h a n 9 4
