- Hi, thanks for the note, I'm new to Lostpedia. I believe that lost-wikia does not own the images, and any images are property of ABC, and their use on any public Wiki encyclopedia is licensed under fair use guidelines, e.g. at wikipedia here. As for text, that too is typically CC or GFDL. If this is against the guidelines of Lostpedia, I'll be more circumspect. I only used it for an article or two today. I even listed the alternate lost wikis in the Lost wikis article here at Lostpedia, so I am all for open exchange. Also if I've completely got it wrong, my apologies, please give me more information. Thanks! Santa 17:10, 9 May 2006 (PDT)
- Fair enough and I agree with you. I'll watch out for text... I believe it was only in the Adam article, and I undid the one for Melissa Cole, who was misnamed at any rate with a preexisting article for Alyssa Cole. I'm still unsure about images, but will leave them out for now, or link directly to the other source, as my primary focus is using my own images anyways. I also wanted your advice-- Lostpedia seems really behind on episode summaries. Does ABC condone the use of their official summaries in fan wikis? Santa 17:36, 9 May 2006 (PDT)
Re:Lost Wikia
- Wow, I am really embarrassed right now. I must admit that I made a terrible mistake, and thanks for noticing it. After I just posted I searched for Lost wikia and it turns out, it is another Lost wiki that I didn’t know about. To you I probably seem like a jerk because I steal pictures from another site right now. But when I first started making articles on wikipedia (very recently), I started uploading pictures from a folder on my computer (shared by my family), which had pictures of all the characters. My sister created it a while back for a school project on diversity and its affect of society in the media and entertainment and she just kept adding them...Now, here's the sad part (on my behalf), I borrowed the pictures I needed for wikipedia, not even thinking about where she got them from. And I just search that site you said, and it turns out she did get them from there. Wow, I feel like such a retard at the moment. The best thing I can say right now is that I will try and change them as soon as I can. I hope you understand and I can’t say enough how much I thank you for noticing that before I uploaded anymore.--Mr.Leaf 09:27, 21 December 2006 (PST)
- I tried as fast as I could and changed all the picture to screen shots I got. Although some are very similar they are different. Once again, thanks for realizing that and I'm sorry. I will be much more careful from now on, all I really want to do is help out, not cause any trouble.--Mr.Leaf 10:19, 21 December 2006 (PST)
- Thanks again, I changed them all, and I apologize to everyone over at Lost Wikia, as it truly was an accident so hopefully it won't cause any problems.--Mr.Leaf 11:46, 21 December 2006 (PST)
Background actors
Do not mess up the appearances lists in the background actors articles. The Dustin Watchman article is about the ACTOR and that section of the article references the actual appearances of the actor in the Lost series. That is a matter of facts, not of opinion. It is relevant information in the actors articles. It takes a lot of time and effor to identify, catalogue and verify each of the background actors appearances accurately. Your casually destroying that work is irritating. If you want to theorize and voice your speculations and personal opinion about the Steve/Scott characters debate, keep that where it belongs: in the CHARACTERS articles, theory pages and talk pages. Do not transpose it into the actors articles. Do not selectively suppress factual information from the actors articles in order to suit your personal opinion in the characters debate. That is a different matter. -- Cheers 07:20, 17 February 2007 (PST)
