Since you're doing signifigant work on the lostpedia, I'd like to make you an admin. Is that something you'd be interested in?

You'd have rights to rollback other people's changes and add/modify protected pages like the home page. If you're interested, please leave a note on my talk page. Thanks! --Admin 15:19, 27 December 2005 (PST)

You are now a Sysop

Thanks for all your hard work around here. You've really cleaned up a lot of the articles. Feel free to add any interesting themes to the main page. I've been neglecting the main page a little lately. Please let me know if you have questions or comments.

Thanks! -Kevin (--Admin 19:03, 27 December 2005 (PST))

Other Wikis?

Hi Again,

If you have ideas for other types of wikis.. If your looking for a partner to maintain the software side of the wiki. Maybe we should talk.

-Kevin (--Admin 14:03, 29 December 2005 (PST))

You are a wizard

Are you sure you're not one of the LOST writers? ;) You know your Lost characters! Happy New Year!--Admin 20:39, 30 December 2005 (PST)

Spammers

I added some software that blocks most of the spamming tools, but some still slip by. Thanks for helping with the cleanup. Whenever I see that you blocked a spammer, I add their IP address (and the whole subnet) to a blacklist that prevents any IPs on that network from even seeing the lostpedia in the future. So as long as you keep adding them to the wikipedia block list, I'll keep adding them to the servers blacklist. --Admin 17:50, 3 January 2006 (PST)

Banning. there's no bugspray for this one.

In my own experience there is no sure way to ban anyone. ban the user, they re-register, ban the IP, they find someone else's computer to re-register and continue wreaking havoc. I used to collaborate in Uncyclopedia and being rampantly disruptive was common, even a requirement, and I got some tips from those guys. The only solution; have someone else with banning powers to take care of stuff when you are not looking and wait, they will eventually grow tired or overpowered if there are too many admins or sysops over them. --GodEmperorOfHell 11:00, 17 January 2006 (PST)

Spammers (Bob, Bobby, etc..)

I'm going to block his entire Class C Network.

I think we should also make another person an Admin. I'd like to suggest we create another SysOp position. Any recommendations? --Admin 19:06, 17 January 2006 (PST)

bob

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but oh well. I caught some Bob like changes and changed them back (on the Boone page). They were comments about him having sex with Jack and Locke. Just wanted to let you know.

I disagree, the changes made in Boone's page are not typical Bob's behavior. this is a minor troll, Bob is self absorbed and proud. He takes great pride in defying 'authority'. If we see him he will register in any combination of 'Bob' and maybe'Dobbs' or 'J. R.' . His target is the Hurley page. --GodEmperorOfHell 03:29, 24 January 2006 (PST)

Abusers

Thanks for your help with these jackass abusers.

I've added a new module to the site called Espionage. It's located in the bottom of the Special pages list. It allows us to get every IP address ever used by any user. Which makes it perfect for banning pests like bob.

I've already banned 4 of Bob's networks. If we continue to have problem with Bob, I'm going to block his whole ISP (which is a very large British ISP), but I don't mind doing it! --Admin 00:07, 24 January 2006 (PST)

I know my spammers

Bob returned in the fashion I had foreseen. I read with interest his edits in this talk page. He is showing quite a different face, yes, he diversified, yet he continues a very defined line. he pleads: can't we just... get along?. Bob, you can reach me at hotmail dot com. feel free to drop me a line. --GodEmperorOfHell 09:55, 24 January 2006 (PST)

Bob's Whole ISP has been blocked

I just blocked Bob's ISP's whole class b network.. it's 255x255 IP Addresses. No more Bob for a while.

And if he comes back from another ISP, I'll ban that ISP too. This is a cat and mouse game he cannot win. --Admin 11:48, 24 January 2006 (PST)

His ISP is the UK ISP Bulldog (which is essential Cable & Wireless). The ISP is what they call a "double play" service over here, so it serves both his landline telephone and his broadband ADSL service. Its unlikely he is going to switch ISPs as this particular ISP requires a one year contract, and I don't think anyone would pay the cancellation fee to do this just to spite LostPedia. It would also require him to have at least a 2 week wait for ISPs to switch his service from one to another. I would expect him to back off now. The question I have to ask, is does it block Bulldog users from even viewing the site, or just becoming a member? --Plkrtn 13:19, 24 January 2006 (PST)

When I was banned from Uncyclopedia (a controversy over hello.jpg) I could see the website but not post or register. This might be the case with wikis, but I am not sure. My question is; is there a whitelisting feature? say, if a Bulldog user wants in, can he/she be whitelisted? --GodEmperorOfHell 14:31, 24 January 2006 (PST)

When I ban them, I'm banning them at the server level, any IPs I block will prevent them from seeing anything on the server. They just get an Unauthorized Access message. It seems a little heavy handed, but we don't have time to keep babysitting these idiots! ;) I'll remove the blocks in a few months. --Admin 04:17, 25 January 2006 (PST)

Thanks...

My biggest concern was that, as GodEmperorOfHell indicated, his "threat" level would have just kept escalating until one day he came in and did some serious site trashing. Hopefully this will quiet him down, I know he threatened to change ISPs, but I'm not sure how committed he was to trashing this site. --Circeus 12:08, 24 January 2006 (PST)

As I said above, switching ISP would cost him a cancellation fee as he is with an ISP that requires a minimum 12 month contract, and charges a large amount of money (We're talking over $100). He'll back off now. Its just another silly script kiddy I would expect. --Plkrtn 13:23, 24 January 2006 (PST)

I need your help.

I've included the FrontPageNews template in the frontpage and realized the colors of the different templates conflict. It's a muddy rainbow. Do you think we shold settle for only one color? We could also take turns to update the news section daily. --GodEmperorOfHell 10:20, 30 January 2006 (PST)

Hmmm... I guess its taste, I like the colors on the page. Everything stands out unto itself. So I don't think it looks that bad. I'm actually really glad the front page isn't all white anymore. If I got a chance, I was going to see if there were any RSS feeds for Lost (there must be something somewhere), that sort of thing could save us a lot of updating time. --Circeus 15:05, 30 January 2006 (PST)

We should also be worrying about our beloved cast's birthdays. It would kill me to find out it was Josh Holloway's birthday and I missed it. There must be a way to create a system. (I can only think of using a marker in the calendar) --GodEmperorOfHell 15:19, 30 January 2006 (PST)

Wikipedia has that On this Day thing... that could be useful. I don't know exactly how they do it and whether it's automated to bring up the next day's tidbits automatically. There isn't much date information in Lostpedia so far, but part of that is that no one's sure of the on-Island time setting. --Srah 19:37, 16 May 2006 (PDT)

We have a potential issue

Please e-mail me asap. †††GodEmperorOfHell††† --18:44, 16 May 2006 (PDT)

Aftermath.

Glad to see you here, man. Hopefully Thunderbird and I could recover from this, but I believe we need to stay alert. three of us is more than enough in the meantime. Do you have any speedy way to reach to KC? I tried the usual channels to no use. †††GodEmperorOfHell††† --16:52, 24 May 2006 (PDT)

No, I do not. But I'm starting to think we need to exchange IM info. --Circeus 16:53, 24 May 2006 (PDT)

Renaming articles

When you deleting Catagory: bad twin you mentioned I could have just renamed it, how do I do that?image: kman.png       talk contribs                   17:38, 25 May 2006 (PDT)

Move - however you may need to be an admin to do that, not sure. --Circeus
Oh yeah i treid that, but since categories are special it didn't let me,think about if you moves a category, you'd have like 50 pges that have redlinks on them. image: kman.png       talk contribs                   17:42, 25 May 2006 (PDT)
Not true. Moving automatically creates redirect pages. --Circeus 17:44, 25 May 2006 (PDT)
But if you redirect to categories none of the article contatined in it shows up, I don't know why but that's what happened with metafiction image: kman.png       talk contribs                   17:46, 25 May 2006 (PDT)
Interesting, making a note to look at that. I guess renaming categories is bad. --Circeus 17:51, 25 May 2006 (PDT)

your unblcking lostpedian

I'm pretty sure he was reblocked afer the novajoe incident for a reason see this page for the origonal infrmation User:Lostpedian/The Ban of Lostpedian image: kman.png       talk contribs                   11:24, 27 May 2006 (PDT)

I see... my bad... rebanned, and now the ban directs to that page. I got an email from him, as I had blocked him during the "event" the other night, but I see now he was supposed to be blocked. Thanks for pointing that out k-man. --Circeus 11:30, 27 May 2006 (PDT)

Disney MGM

Hi, I was curious about more information on your photos of Lost memorabilia at the ABC commisary at Disney MGM Studios. For now I added your photos from the Jack article to the The Walt Disney Company article, if that's okay with you. In addition, I thought it would be great to get some more information from you in a subsection of that article, something that explains what the ABC commissary at the Disney MGM Studios is, with reference to the Lost fan who might want to visit it some day. Thanks! BTW the HP ref on your userpage made me smile... C¯ _Santa_ ¯T14:50, 4 June 2006 (PDT)

All articles are now Protected from Moves

TO: All Sysops

Our most recent troll found a really annoying way to automate a ton of edits. Making the rolling back process take much much longer. He made rollbacks very difficult by deleting the content on the article, saving and then moving the article to a new location.

Long story short. I have updated the database to force every article to be move protected. Only Sysops have the rights to move articles from one place to another.

When this vandal returns, we will be able to roll back his changes in the normal EASY way. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, Admin --Admin 07:25, 8 July 2006 (PDT)

Protect

Oh thought there weren't any SysOps around today! Could you just protect something for me? Its just the latest featured article weeklie and the corresponding image. Both appear on the front page and so are prime vandal targets. Thanks very much --Nickb123 (Talk) 12:26, 30 August 2006 (PDT)

Done, well the article anyway, the picture was already protected. --Circeus UTCE 11:57, 1 September 2006 (PDT)

Just a thought

I now have over a 100 edits on lostpedia. Does that count for something? -- Iron Man  Send a message  View contributions  20:35, 13 October 2006 (PDT)
