Copyrighting
In order to try and help sort out copyright on images, could we perhaps link to Lostpedia:Use of Images when someone clicks "upload file"? It could just be a little disclaimer to ask that people look over the templates before uploading, that way the percentage of Lostpedia images tagged would be increased. Just an idea --Nickb123 (Talk) 02:51, 1 November 2006 (PST)
Good Article Critreia
Hi All,
A prolonged discussion and a brainstorming is taking place on the new Article Attack talk page, where I have suggested to create a new Template / Criteria for Manual Style Conforming Articles, to be used in marking an article for meeting the minimum Lostpedia standards, regarding Theory Policy, Copyrights, Credibility of sources, and all the other quality standards grouped in the Lostpedia:Manual of Style (proposed). I also suggested to encourage all the community to vote on the articles conforms with our Manual of Style, beside the Admins and Sysops, through maybe a new voting / nomination page to be marked with this template.
We currently have a page to vote for the lowest quality articles, Article Attack and the outstanding articles Featured Articles, yet there are so many articles, and will be more, on Lostpedia that may not be outstanding yet with a better quality than to be considered very poor. However, many of these articles are so far from applying the Manual for Style, that they might end up doing more bad to our portal than good, and debates can go for long since currently quality it is a subjective matter. Through creating a public voting page, and a template to mark the conforming articles, I am expecting the following advantages:
- Encouraging as many Lostpedia writers as possible, to read more into our Manual of Style and bucket of policies, in order to vote for what conforms with them. I think this will help a lot in raising the level of awareness, and help them later in their own writing.
- Raise the awareness of more regular readers with our standards, and encouraging them to help report any article previously marked as "good", using maybe Rewrite template, when it is newly modified in way that makes it no more conforming.
- Having a large stock of well-known good articles, that we can choose from to present in many new applications, in addition to AOTW, knowing that in case their nomination was rejected, only small modifications, and not full rewrites, will be required before re-nominating them.
Of course, this idea may not be applicable before the official implementation of the Lostpedia:Manual of Style (proposed). At the appropriate time, I offer to help create and maintain both the template and the voting page, if accepted.
These are the ideas I have for now, please pitch in and add your comments. I am of course looking to keep this as a constructive brainstorming, and not an argument like one of what Kaini is describing above.
Thanks to you all-- 17:02, 1 November 2006 (PST)
A Question
Hi, I was just wondering how you managed to get Lostpedia. I mean, is there a site you can go to to get a Wiki like this? Thanks for your time. -- Lost_Soul 09:18, 2 November 2006 (PST)

Does mediawiki allow additonal tabs?
On the page Lostpedia talk:Theory policy there's some discussion going on about potential ways of handling theories on this site. So we know what options are available from a technical standpoint, does mediawiki have any way of adding additional tabs to the site? So for example, could there be a "theories" tab for pages along with the discussion tab? --Minderbinder 05:56, 3 November 2006 (PST)
Manual of Style ?
Hi Admin, Regarding our proposed Manual of Style, I think almost all of its discussion threads are finalized...so do you know or have you agreed on when will it be changed to official ?

Revolutionary stuff going on about how to handle theories...
Admin, I think someone already left you a note on this, but I wanted to make sure you had some feedback and gave your opinion on this topic, since if we were to do anything related to this, it would be a major change to lostpedia's format. Lostpedia talk:Theory policy In summary, the basic idea is to take out theories into a separate page, since they are getting out of control on this site, and at times overwhelming the canon section. Please give us your thoughts, since we wouldn't move on it if you weren't in agreement. --PandoraX 12:14, 6 November 2006 (PST)
- If you haven't seen it already, check out User:Minderbinder/sandbox/Pickett and the subpages it links to. I have a test version similar to what you suggested. --Minderbinder 05:31, 7 November 2006 (PST)
- I viewed both pages and find them very organized. The new template you propose is very indicative as well. I think the sub-page idea is a great alternative to the seemingly complicated theories-tab idea. I definitely give it my vote.-- 06:51, 7 November 2006 (PST)
Admin, I'd like to ask you if you could update the file related to the theory-tab in FR.lostpedia, in order to display its text in French. I asked ««Jabberwock»» about this, who told me it was only a file to edit. So, if it could display "théories" and "article principal", that would be great. Plus, I saw you don't have this tab on the "Main Page", is it possible to remove the tab from our "Accueil"? Thanks. -- SGC.Alex 04:18, 25 November 2006 (PST)
Equations on MediaWiki
Hi Admin... there's a problem with Blast door map equations; seems it is a MediaWiki coding issue. That page used to work well, don't know if you can fix it or know of someone else who can (already asked Jabbr). --PandoraX 19:10, 19 November 2006 (PST)
- Thanks for reminding me about this. This is something that broke during the last upgrade.. I finally tracked down the problem and corrected it. It turns out some of the error messages actually made it into the source of the pages... so I reverted to an earlier version and the equations now work. If you notice any other pages with broken Latex, please double check the history. Please let me know if you have any other questions. --Admin 00:56, 21 November 2006 (PST)
Lostpedia Font and Inconsistencies defect over Internet Explorer
Hi Admin, Since you were working lately on versions of MediaWiki, can you check the new huge font of Lostpedia, as well as inconsistencies with infoboxes' details and thumbnail images' borders, when viewed through the Internet Explorer ? A general complaint and a list of comments is posted about it at the Main Page's talk, where everyone seems to agree that this bug needs your experience to investigate. Based on its global existence over Lostpedia, I believe its negative effect is very significant, particularly on new users. I hope it can be solved soon. Thanks -- 05:41, 21 November 2006 (PST)

Cite.php
Hi Admin, any chance we can get Cite.php installed on Lostpedia? I've been trying to cite sources in articles I am editing, and I think this will be much easier if <ref> and <references/> are available for use. Some example usage on wikipedia: Wikipedia:Lostpedia#References.

Policy on clones
Is it zero tolerance? I banned someone for vandalism (minor, but definitely unneeded stuff like starting noncanon pages despite warnings not to do so, writing "I LIKE CHEESE", etc... seemed to be testing the waters). We noticed another user is using the same IP, and they appear to be the same person from the fact that the clone was editing improvement edits to the other user page (rather than vandalizing that)... 99.99% sure they are the same person. The original account has some decent edits, with attrocious grammar. Should I ban the IP? --PandoraX 19:09, 31 December 2006 (PST)

Past/Present Policy
I have received many conflicts views from numerous people on the argument of past or present tense. I have tried since about mid-December to find an answer to whether episode synopses(plural of synopsis?), character pages, and jsut about every page should be in past or present tense. people even consulted wikipedia, but we decided to not use wikipedia' past/present policy because it did not apply (Their policy is that ficttiious content, such as dealing with a television show has to be written in present tense to avoid confusion with an event that ACTUALLY happened in real life. However, there would be no such confuson on Lostpedia since it is all fictitious). I have posted comments asking this very question to many users, and received many conflicting views. Today, since I did not have classes today, I decided I would continue to make headway on changing episode synopses to past tense. However, basically all of my changes were reverted. Now, that I have prefaced my question with background infromation, here is my question. Past or present tense? Do you decide, or do we get a group concensus/vote to decide? How do we do that? Can we please resolve this issue so this "conflict" (for lack of a better word) can be solved? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. David 11:43, 19 January 2007 (PST)

This is just a question. But is the wiki programmed with the new change of DST, which is three weeks before the previous DST date. - The server is showing the correct time in UTC, however the mediawiki software doesn't keep track of your timezone, just the offset from UTC. Right now the offset is different due to differences in DST dates for UTC and US time zones. Eastern time is currently UTC -4 and, Central is UTC -5, etc. If you click the button to fill in from browser, it should give the correct value if your PC is updated with DST patches and shows the correct time. - Hi, Admin. Would you consider adding an interwiki link "heroeswiki" over to http://heroeswiki.com? There's already a "lostpedia" interwiki link over on Heroes Wiki over to Lostpedia since there are a number of apparent links between Heroes and Lost. Thanks! --Changeling 15:31, 16 April 2007 (PDT)
considering to add a theme
Was reading the show blog at TVGuide.com for this week and realized there may be a theme in "Repetitive Tasks" -- where many characters have had to do the same activity again and again, either during a short or long period. Examples: pushing the button (all characters), Desmond saving Charlie's life, Kate and Sawyer breaking up rocks, the pile of pneumatically-discarded composition notebooks (or perhaps many other Dharma experiments). I'm sure there are other examples that the community could contribute to, as these tasks run counter to the larger sweep of adventure and change. Might this be worth adding as a theme? If so, I'm not certain how to establish and would be happy to have others do so if worthwhile. Thanks. --Dianepage 03:59, 19 April 2007 (PDT)
Also, early on they had to repetitively bring water back and forth from the caves. I think we should add this theme. --Blueeagleislander 18:05, 19 April 2007 (PDT)
Quick question
I used to be able to add a Lostpedia search engine to the search bar in the upper right of Firefox. Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted the plugin, and I can't find a link to install it anywhere on here. Can you point me in the right direction, please? -- Ramirez Selvarn 11:54, 27 April 2007 (PDT)
- Never mind-I found it. -- Ramirez Selvarn 12:13, 27 April 2007 (PDT)
German Lostpedia
Hi, I just wanted to ask why the German Lostpedia doesn't have any Admins. It would be good if there was someone who is able to delete superfluous pages (e.g. if there's a misspelling in the article's name) etc. -- EvelynPace 16:29, 19 January 2007 (PST)
- A comment would be nice... -- EvelynPace 08:15, 27 January 2007 (PST)
- I don't speak German. I'm open to suggestions for German SysOps. --Admin 11:03, 27 January 2007 (PST)
- Hm, I'm not sure. I think in the moment Marija and me (EvelynPace) are the most active Users. I'd like to be a German SysOps because I like to take care of the pages and to help new users. And I think I'm now familiar with the Wiki software. -- EvelynPace 09:17, 28 January 2007 (PST)
- I think that EvelynPace would be a great choice. I am also from the German Lostpedia. -- Teddybaerli 16:17, 01 February 2007
- What do we have to do to get a SysOp? We already made suggestions, what else to do? --Teddybaerli 01:47, 18 February 2007 (PST)
- Yeah, and the Polish Lostpedia got their Sysops 7 days after their request. -- EvelynPace 06:27, 23 February 2007 (PST)
- Erm, If more than two users, one nominating themself had requested, then it would have been actioned sooner. Someone should post on the German Wikipedia Main Talk Page about this, and get opinions from the users, then report it back to us. Of course, you could just be nice and instead of whinging, which would also not get people's backs up. No one does this site full time, we all volunteer for free you know! -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 07:44, 23 February 2007 (PST)
- The polish Lostpedia also made just two nominations (one nominating themself). We didn't mean to peeve you, we just had the feeling as if our request had been forgotten. However, I posted on the German Main Talk Page and hope we'll get some more suggestions. -- LG EvelynPace 11:09, 24 February 2007 (PST)
- We asked other users of the German Lostpedia and they nominated EvelynPace and Nordlys. --Teddybaerli 06:12, 11 April 2007 (PDT)
- On the German Lostpedia Main Talk Page 3 people voted for EvelynPace, 2 for Clark Taylor, 1 for Nordlys, 1 for Partygirl and 1 for TomCmdr. -- EvelynPace 13:47, 1 May 2007 (PDT)
- I have made EvelynPace, Clark Taylow, and Nordlys sysops of the German Lostpedia. Thanks for your patience. --Admin 01:39, 3 May 2007 (PDT)
- Thank you very much! --Teddybaerli 09:29, 3 May 2007 (PDT)
- Yes, thanks a lot! -- EvelynPace 11:11, 3 May 2007 (PDT)
- I don't speak German. I'm open to suggestions for German SysOps. --Admin 11:03, 27 January 2007 (PST)
Search Firefox.
In the top-right corner of Firefox, you can quickly access search engines. I tried adding Lostpedia, but it wouldn't let me. Is it possible? Has something like that been setup? If not, I think this site has what you need to know. --Blueeagleislander 01:05, 2 May 2007 (PDT)
Hey Kevin
You banned my friend Ian, Ozzian2000, for editing my site (which btw I find hilarious (even though he is going to kill me)), but it was kinda my fault. I thought that because it was a private page, he was allowed. Sorry about that. I'm at his house (countdown till SHOWTIME) and he said I had to post a blog on your site, and this is it!
LOST PWNS!!!!!
- Thanks for the clarification. He was already unblocked. If he still can't log in, please send me another message and I'll take a look. --Admin 18:27, 9 May 2007 (PDT)
