This article contains tribute art, spin-off fiction, theories, reference and community material created by fans inspired by the show.
It is by definition non-canon, but generally distinct from intentionally fake hoaxes or humorous fan parody material.

The Lostpedia Season 4 Writing Contest is an ongoing contest started by the Lostpedia forum as a summer activity for the hiatus. The purpose is to have Lost fans participate in writing a fanon version of what they want and/or expect from Season 4 of Lost.

Instructions For Each Episode

1. Write a 5-15 minute episode script with short summary and submit the script. This should be a maximum of 10-12 pages.

2. Submit your script by the correct deadline for the episode.

3. Vote for your favorite of the episodes once they have all been posted.

4. Voting will begin for the next episodes flashback character immediately.

Rules

  • All scripts should include a 2 or 3 paragraph summary of the episode to ease readers in understanding.
  • Initial scripts should be roughly 5-15 minutes in length.
  • Each script should include brief stage directions to make sure the reader understands where each scene is taking place.
  • Scripts must be submitted by the deadline each week, late scripts will not be allowed.
  • You must use the flashback character chosen by the community except during specially marked episodes (premiere and finale).
  • Keep them clean(ish). There are young users of these forums, swear words should not be excessively used (except were characters would normally do so) and parts regarding sex or sexual activities should not be explained in depth. The Mods will read all scripts before posting and scripts not meeting these qualities will not be entered or users will be notified and asked to clean them up.
  • You have 10 days to write each script, plenty of time, which will be followed by a 4 day voting period.
  • Please do not disclose your identity to others if you wrote a script. This is not a popularity contest, but the best scriptwriting contest.

Our Mutual Friend

Flashback: Desmond David Hume

Winner: Jimeni

Summary: A familiar man connected to the freighter says the people on the island are their enemy. Desmond has a future-flash suggesting impending doom. In Desmond’s flashbacks, we see the days leading up to his leaving for the solo-race. He sees Charles Widmore watching him train, he finds a letter he doesn’t remember writing to Penelope about the island, he meets up with his friend Donovan – who is talking with Nadia – and asks him to deliver the letter, and he meets up with Nadia again, finding her very friendly until he learns a secret about her. Back at the radio tower, Ben taunts Jack, and Jack decides they will take turns watching over Ben as they make camp for the night. They get news via walkie-talkie over things that have transpired. Jack wakes up the next morning to find that Ben is gone and Karl had been knocked out. He decides he should go find Ben and Locke, and Danielle and Alex agree to with him, while Kate starts to lead the others back to the beach.

At the beach, Desmond tells everyone what happened to Charlie and warns everyone that Naomi was lying and tells Hurley about his future-seeing. Sayid warns Jack. Desmond later starts to read “Our Mutual Friend,” deciding apparently his fate has been decided, when Hurley comes up to him and convinces him to try to change it, saying “do it for Charlie.” They overtake one of the men Desmond saw in his vision, and then take this person’s partner hostage. Hurley gets Sayid to start interrogation, and Sayid learns of the surprise hostage they have taken.
