Making a Good Signature
This will be a three part discussion.
Part 1: Standing Out
With Lostpedia being so full of users, very few stand out of the crowd. That's not to say they aren't making good edits, but many confuse them with other users of a simular name or edit history. But with signatures, one can establish himself/herself within the communty and earn the respect of fellow users. Don't get me wrong, Lostpedia is not a popularity contest, nor a forum, but having a name for yourself is an important step in becoming a respected member of the community. So, having a unique signature that stands out in the crowd is vital.
For example, which stands out more?
Onelastword or Iron Man Send a message View contributions ?
Okay, so you get the point: It's good to be different.
Follow these tips to make sure YOU stand out!
- Use a unique yet universal font.
Having a cool font is important. But not everyone has the same fonts installed on they're computer. Make sure to use only standard (Comes with your operating system) fonts.
- Don't be afraid to experiemnt with colors.
Mixing and matching different colors always helps you stand out.
- Make sure your sig is compact
enough so as not to be obnoxious. You'll learn about this a little later.
Don't Forget!
A unique signature can't be copyrighted. Other users might copy it and use it for they're signature. There is certainly nothing wrong with this, and users should feel free to borrow good ideas from other users. But when two or more people share the same sig, it can be offely confusing! So, when someone decides to use your sig design, just change yours a little. Make it a different color, change the font, ect. That way multiple users can enjoy your basic design, without the confusion!
Part 2: Looking Cool
Looking cool is the most important part about having a good sig. But it's important to be cool and not obnoxious. Check out these tips to see what I'm talking about.
- Use soft colors
Bright colors are obnoxious, and they give people headaches. Something that's easy on the eyes is always cool.
- Dark Green and Deep Blue are crowd pleasers,
as well as Deep Red.
