L-Missions

Here is a list of things/people Locke has tried to blow up.

Mission Name When Who Status Summary
Opening The Hatch Day 44 - Thursday, November 4, 2004 John Locke VS The Hatch Sucessfull Jack determined to open the Hatch to use as a safe hiding place for the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 on a warning from Danielle Rousseau that the Others would come to kidnap them. The steel hatch was blown off using several sticks of dynamite recovered from the shipwreck of the Black Rock by Rousseau, Jack, Locke, Dr. Arzt, Kate and Hurley, against the last-second protestations of Hurley, who noted that the Numbers, which he considered unlucky, had been engraved into the side of the Hatch. In the final shot of Season 1, Locke and Jack gazed down into the long, dark, narrow vertical shaft revealed to be within.

Not Pushing The Button Day 67 - Saturday, November 27, 2004 John Locke VS The Hatch Part 2 Sucessfull Locke recruited Desmond in a plan to not enter the Numbers. Mr. Eko's protests, however, are all in vain when he is shut out when Desmond activates the blast doors. The Countdown Timer ran out, causing a system failure, and the Numbers flipped to the five hieroglyphs. It caused what seemed to be an earthquake. All the objects made of metal soon flew against the wall, attracted to something with an extremely powerful magnetic force. Locke realized that the Button did something after all, as did Desmond, who acted by entering the crawlspace underneath the floor of the Swan, and using the fail-safe to activate the "discharge". The Swan was completely destroyed.

Winning The Chess Game Day 79 - Thursday, December 9, 2004 John Locke VS The Flame Sucessfull The Flame was rigged with C-4 explosive, wired throughout the lower level. The station computer had a special code (77) which, when entered by the operator, would signal that the Hostiles had made an incursion on the station. Locke discovered this by playing and winning a chess game with the computer. Later, he entered the 77 Code before leaving the station. After Locke left the Flame to meet the others in the jungle, the entire station exploded, destroying everything within it.

Destroying The Submarine Day 81 - Saturday, December 11, 2004 John Locke VS The Submarine Sucessfull John Locke infiltrated the Barracks and held both Ben and Alex hostage, demanding to be taken to the submarine. Ben later explained that since communications with the outside world were lost the submarine is only capable of leaving the Island, but never returning, and that Jack would be leaving the Island by submarine in a few hours. The result would be the same whether Locke destroyed the submarine or not. All he would accomplish by destroying the submarine would be to keep Jack on the Island. Locke was later taken to the submarine by Alex and planted a C4 explosive. As he left the dock, he surrendered to the Others, but the submarine exploded moments later.

Blowing Miles Up Day 96 - Sunday, December 26, 2004 John Locke VS Miles Failed While at the barracks, Miles uses Kate to gain access to Ben. He demands $3.2 million dollars in exchange for telling his employers that Ben is dead. When challenged that Charlotte already knows that Ben is alive, he says that he will take care of Charlotte. Miles explicitly states that he knows exactly who Ben is, including the fact that Ben has access to a large amount of money. Kate then attempts to take him back to the boathouse, and he reveals he knows what she's done and who she is. Locke then appears, and takes him back to the boathouse. The next day, Locke sticks a grenade in Miles' mouth and pulls the pin, forcing Miles to keep his jaws clamped down on the trigger. Locke then leaves him there but Miles survives.
