The Others are NOT the Hostiles

• "The Others" is simply the name given to them by Danielle and the Losties.
• The Others are a combination of The Hostiles (original island inhabitents like Richard), DHARMA converts (like Ben), and new recruits(like Juliet).

Danielle is not French

• Rousseau has never said she was from France.
• After picking up her signal, she was known for a while as "the French woman", which was an assumption based on the language of the transmission. French was for a long time however the Lingua Franca, and one of the most commonly spoken languages. She may have just thought she'd have a better chance of someone understanding French than any other language.

Why Charlie had to Die

• The possibility that Charlie might have been able so save himself is irrelevant.
• Desmond's flashes happen in an order. If you change a flash, the flashes after it change.
• The flash of Claire getting rescued happened after the flash of Charlie drowning.
• Charlie knew that if he changed the flash of his death, it would change the flash of Claire's rescue.
• Even if any of the many theories on how Charlie could have saved himself would work, Charlie wouldn't have tried because of the above point. Charlie knew he had to sacrafic his all for Claire.
