Character Secrets test
Many of the Lost characters have deep, dark secrets that have, to various degrees, affected the decisions, consequences and relationships within the narrative of the series. Many of these secrets have caused characters to resort to deception or manipulation to keep the secret from being revealed.
It can be said that many secrets were kept under duress as to avoid unwanted attention or to seemingly promote the greater good. Others were kept to create the semblance of normalcy, and a few have prompted grim consequences upon their exposure. The following list below includes character secrets that have proven to be significant, some of which have been revealed, over the course of the show.
Season 1

- The other survivors discovered Kate's fugitive status after Sawyer revealed it publicly out of spite. ("Born to Run")

| Secret: It was Kate's idea for Sun to poison Jin. ("Outlaws")

- Sun. Even though Jack correctly guessed it was Sun who poisoned her husband, she never revealed that it was actually Kate's idea.

- Rose. Rose encountered a wheelchair-bound Locke before boarding the plane when she dropped her medication. ("S.O.S.")

| Secret: Locke hit Sayid over the head as Sayid was trying to triangulate a signal with the plane's transceiver. ("The Moth")

- Sayid. When challenged on his trustworthiness, Locke admitted to Sayid that he was the one who hit him, claiming he did so to 'protect' the camp. ("The Greater Good")

| Secret: Locke and Boone's discovery of the hatch. ("Hearts and Minds")

- Jack. During his surgery, Boone told Jack that Locke asked him not to tell anyone about the hatch. While Locke denied Boone's claim, he finally admitted it to Sayid, who then confirmed it with Jack. ("Do No Harm") ("The Greater Good")

- Charlie was involved with Sawyer in a con for Sawyer to nab the guns from Locke and Jack. Charlie attacked Sun while she was tending to her garden. His motivation was to make Locke look foolish in front of the other survivors. ("The Long Con")
- Sawyer is the only one that knows Charlie attacked Sun.

- Juliet and the Others know of Jack's and the other survivors' past life histories. ("A Tale of Two Cities")
- She does not reveal how they know or how they received the survivors' personal information.
- Juliet asks Jack to involve himself in her plot to kill Ben during Ben's spinal surgery and make it look like an accident. She reassures Jack that no one will find out due to the complexity of the procedure. ("The Cost of Living")
- During the operation, Jack goes against Juliet's plan and he reveals Juliet's plot to Tom during the operation. ("I Do")
- Pregnant women and their unborn fetuses die on the island during the mothers' second trimester. ("One of Us")
- Juliet is pressed by Sun to reveal this information.
- Juliet is secretly working for Ben as a mole in the survivors' camp. Her job is to discover which of the female castaways may be pregnant. ("One of Us")
- Juliet tells Jack of her and Ben's motives a couple of days prior to Ben's scheduled attack on the camp. ("Operation: Sleeper")

- Sayid is working as an assassin for Ben after the events of the island. After his wife was murdered, Sayid encountered Ben during Nadia's funeral. Ben informed Sayid that the man ultimately behind Nadia's death is Charles Widmore. Sayid agrees to work for Ben to avenge his wife's death.
- Only Ben knows of Sayid's new role as a mercenary.
