I'm an Australian fan of the series. Some of my pet theories:
The island moves, and can submerge, which explains why no-one knows where they are, why there are polar bears, and why there's a huge boat in the middle of the island.
Icky to think about, but the Hanso website clearly refers to "Missing Organs". It's possible this is in reference to one of the big boys of the Hanso Foundation, Peter Thompson, who had 'inoperable lung and pancreatic cancer'. It could mean that his organs were removed (and replaced with...?) Browsing through lostpedia and other sources has made me realise how many prosthetic body parts have been shown in the series. Marvin Candle and the farmer Kate worked with both have prosthetic arms, and the woman Hurley went to see in Australia with the godawful accent had a prosthetic leg (I think?). Also there was the fake eye that the tailenders found in their hatch. Many people are definitely missing pieces of their bodies.
The letters of the different departments within the Hanso Foundation together form some sort of anagram. I'm basing this on the fact that the word 'dharma' is able to be formed, and the fact that the letters themselves are so close together on one of the pages at the site. I've used an anagram generator but I couldn't make sense of any of it.
Virtual reality is the only non-magical explanation for everything I can think of, but I'd be disappointed if this turned out to be true. I stand by my belief that the survivors are on a real island, and really weird things are actually happening (not hallucinations), and the creators have some amazing explanation for all this that I haven't thought of. Surprises are good.
