The "Tourniquet Man" is the unidentified man that Jack applied a tourniquet to in the "Pilot, Part 1" to stop his leg from bleeding. Boone also referred to him with the same nickname. In "Pilot, Part 1" his legs were crushed under a piece of plane wreckage. Locke, Jack, and another survivor pulled him out of the wreckage. Jack removed the tourniquet later that evening. The following day Jack commented to Boone that he ("Tourniquet Man") should be fine.
Trivia
- In the book Endangered Species, Faith Harrington says that his leg has been amputated. This is not seen in the show.
- Dale Radomski, who first portrayed Tourniquet Man, appears in Season 3 as part of the Others background cast, as a guard at the quarry who confronts Sawyer in his escape attempt. ("The Glass Ballerina") It is most likely that Radomski is intended to portray two different individuals, and was cast in both roles by virtue of his stunt abilities.
- For new footage from the day of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 shot for "Exposé", background extra Kamakani De Dely portrayed the Tourniquet Man. The exact reasons for this are unknown; it's possible that Radomski simply wasn't available for the shooting of the episode. However, De Dely ended up being barely visible in the episode itself, only showing up for two very brief shots that both lasted less than a second, being rushed through the picture. For other angles of the scene featuring Tourniquet Man (and the death of Gary Troup), recycled footage from "Pilot, Part 1" was used. Promotional stills for the episode offer a better look at De Dely as the Tourniquet Man, which also seem to imply that background actor Wayne Geiger replaces Fuzzy Moody as the survivor who helps Locke carry the Tourniquet Man in the new footage shot for "Exposé" (Note that Geiger was also present in part of the original scene from "Pilot, Part 1", albeit portraying a different survivor).
Kamakani De Dely plays the Tourniquet Man in new footage shot for "Exposé". Blink and you'll miss him.
