Day 10 - Friday, October 1, 2004
- Charlie entices Claire to the caves with imaginary "Peanut Butter".
- In a fight, Sayid gives Sawyer a mortal wound. Jack saves Sawyer's life.
- Sun produces a natural remedy for Shannon's asthma.
- Sawyer shows his letter to Kate.
- Ashamed of his actions, Sayid leaves the beach camp.
Day 12 - Sunday, October 3, 2004
"Solitary"
- Sayid finds the cable. He follows it inland and is captured by Danielle Rousseau.
- Ethan and Locke hunt wild rabbits.
- (Night) the Others kidnap 9 people (including all of the children) from the tailies camp. Ana Lucia kills one of the Others, who was carrying a U.S Army knife and a list of the nine who were taken. The tailies decide to relocate.
Day 13 - Monday, October 4, 2004
"Solitary"
- Sayid is interrogated and tortured by Danielle Rousseau. He learns about the Others. He escapes and hears whispers in the jungle.
- The First Island Open Golf Tournament is held, officiated by Hurley.
Day 15 - Wednesday, October 6, 2004
- Claire has a nightmare in which she sees Locke behave in a strange way. She wakes up in the morning thinking someone took her baby. Later in the day, Claire experiences another nightmare. This time, she thinks someone injected something into her baby.
- After 3 days of walking, the remaining tail-section survivors make a camp in the jungle near a river.
Day 16 - Thursday, October 7, 2004
- Hurley decides to find out who all the crash survivors are. He gets the flight manifest from Sawyer.
- Sayid returns to the caves with news of the Others.
- Hurley announces that Ethan wasn't on the plane.
- Claire and Charlie are kidnapped by Ethan.
"All The Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues"
- Charlie is hanged and left for dead by Ethan, but revived by Jack.
- Boone and Locke discover a hatch.
- Ethan starts "taking care of" Claire in the Staff, using drugs to convince her he is acting in the best interest of her and her unborn baby.
Day 17 - Friday, October 8, 2004
Day 18 - Saturday, October 9, 2004
- Christopher Reeve passes away at the age of 52 from heart failure (off-Island event that Ben was aware of, and later mentioned to Jack).
Day 19 - Sunday, October 10, 2004
- Ana Lucia imprisons Nathan in the Tiger pit, convinced he is one of the Others. She interrogates him about the kidnapped children.
Day 21 - Tuesday, October 12, 2004
- Kate and Sawyer find the Halliburton case at the waterfall.
- The tide comes further up the beach than normal and washes the fuselage into the ocean. The beach survivors move their camp higher up the coast.
- Boone and Locke continue to study the Hatch.
Day 22 - Wednesday, October 13, 2004
- Kate and Jack get the case's key from the buried Marshal. Jack gives Kate the toy plane but keeps the guns.
- Shannon helps Sayid translate maps and papers he took from Rousseau.
Day 23 - Thursday, October 14, 2004
- Eko gives Nathan a banana.
- (Night) Goodwin releases Nathan from the pit, then breaks his neck and hides the body.
Day 24 - Friday, October 15, 2004
- Kate discovers Sun speaks English.
- Locke gives Boone a hallucinogenic experience which releases Boone from his emotional dependence on Shannon.
"Exposé"
- Arzt gives Nikki a map of where her luggage might have landed. She and Paulo find the drug smugglers' plane and the Pearl hatch but do not explore either.
Day 26 - Sunday, October 17, 2004
"Special"
- The Tailies hike leads them back to the water.
Day 27 - Monday, October 18, 2004
"Special"
- Michael starts building a raft to get him and Walt off the Island. Walt runs away with Vincent. Locke helps Michael to find Walt and rescue him from a polar bear attack.
- The Others prepare to perform surgery on Claire. Alex frees Claire from the Staff. Rousseau takes Claire to Locke and Boone.
- The tail section survivors discover the Arrow bunker. Inside they find a radio, a Bible and a glass eye.
- Ana Lucia confronts Goodwin. He claims the kidnapped children are better off and admits to killing Nathan. He states that the (kidnapped) people on the list are good people, the rest are bad people. They fight and Goodwin is killed.
- Claire is brought to the Caves where she meets everyone again but does not remember who they are, as she has amnesia.
Day 28 - Tuesday, October 19, 2004
- Ethan tells Charlie he will kill the survivors one by one until he gets Claire back. Locke, Sayid and Boone set up a defensive perimeter and take guard shifts during the night.
Day 29 - Wednesday, October 20, 2004
- Scott is found murdered on the beach.
- Ethan is lured into an ambush and is captured. Charlie shoots him four times, killing him.
"Outlaws"
- Sawyer hunts a boar that ransacked his tent. He hears whispers in the jungle repeating Duckett's last words.
Day 30 - Thursday, October 21, 2004
"Outlaws"
- Sawyer tells Sayid he heard whispers.
- Charlie and Hurley bury Ethan.
- Kate offers to help Sawyer track down his boar in exchange for access to his stash. At night, they play "I never".
Day 31 - Friday, October 22, 2004
"Outlaws"
- Sawyer confronts the boar but lets it live.
- Sawyer returns the gun to Jack, and realises that he met Jack's father in a Sydney bar.
Day 32 - Saturday, October 23, 2004
"Exposé"
- Arzt, Shannon and Kate argue about the guns from the Marshal's case.
- Paulo retrieves the diamonds but doesn't tell Nikki.
- Walt sets fire to the raft as he does not wish to leave the Island.
Day 33 - Sunday, October 24, 2004
- Jin is blamed for burning the raft. Sun defends him in English. Jin leaves Sun and moves to the beach camp.
Day 34 - Monday, October 25, 2004
Day 35 - Tuesday, October 26, 2004
"Numbers"
- Hurley discovers the Numbers on Rousseau's notes. At night, he steals these notes from Sayid.
Day 36 - Wednesday, October 27, 2004
"Numbers"
- It is Claire's birthday.
- Hurley finds Rousseau and asks her about the Numbers. Rousseau gives Hurley a battery for the raft.
- Locke makes Claire a cradle for the baby.
- World Series Finale (United States) – Boston Red Sox win the World Series. (off-Island event that Ben is aware of, and later shows Jack on the Hydra television).
Day 39 - Saturday, October 30, 2004
- Locke and Boone try to break the Hatch window with a crude trebuchet. Locke starts to lose the feelings in his legs.
Day 40 - Sunday, October 31, 2004
- Locke dreams about a Beechcraft and a seriously injured Boone.
