The Mesa is a grassy and moderately forested plateau somewhere on the Island. It is first mentioned when Roger Linus suggests to Ben that they celebrate his birthday by drinking beers on the Mesa. Ben uses this opportunity to kill his father as part of the Purge. ("The Man Behind the Curtain") The Mesa is first seen when Jack, Kate, and Charlie go into the jungle looking for the cockpit of the plane. ("Pilot, Part 1") The capsule dump is located by the Mesa. ("Live Together, Die Alone") The Mesa can also be seen when Nikki, Paulo, Locke, Sayid, and Desmond are traveling to the Pearl.("The Cost of Living") Presumably the Mesa is also the location where Hurley, Charlie, Sawyer, and Jin took the Dharma van for a ride. ("Tricia Tanaka Is Dead")
