The core is the result of the quest for extraterrestrial intelligence, one of the Hanso Foundation's projects. Ever since it's discovery, it has been hidden from the world. The only other trace of this project is on the original Hanso foundation website. The existence of this artifact is still shrouded in speculation. The primary researcher is Fredrick Turner, who is currently one of the subjects of this very experiment. There is a small group of people who are against the Hanso Foundation and all of its projects.
