The "Original" Orchid Orientation Film/s: Canonical or Not?

Many theories connected to the island and time travel hinge on the Orchid's exotic matter allowing for the ability to travel backwards in time. Evidence of the ability to physically travel backwards in time has only been presented in the Orchid Orientation clips shown before Season Four aired. (The ability for consciousnesses, like that of Desmond, to travel backwards in time is a different beast.) Within the actual airing of the show, we have seen no evidence that traveling backwards in time is possible. Rather, we have only seen that traveling forward in time is possible, and that time moves differently on the island than on the rest of the world. As a result of this serious discrepancy, is it not important to find out whether or not the show's makers say that the original Orientation clips are considered canon? If they are not, and the actual aired orientation video replaces those as canon, then this would draw serious doubt to any and all theories that depend upon backwards time travel.--Sal Paradise 20:29, 14 June 2008 (PDT)
