Talk:The Lost Experience clues/July 25
From Lostpedia
This clue raises an interesting facet of an international game: it was Tuesday in Australia when the clues were uncovered, but Monday in the UK and the US (If I've done my math right...I know that it was Monday in the US when The Lost Ninja posted the clues, anyway). Should we apply some kind of standardized international calendar for the purpose of the game or defer to the place of origin when determining the time at which a clue appeared? It seems easier and less confusing to me just to use the local time for each clue and include a mention of where it appeared. Any thoughts? Jack Gladney 20:58, 24 July 2006 (PDT)
I think the 10th clue should show up as 7/26 since it wasn't working until then despite when the glyph was released. Otherwise we'll have to determine what day the glyphs were released if one takes a while to find.--Lizrdgizrd 07:54, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
The EW clue is based on a US magazine. The article is dated 7/25. It should definitely appear on the July 25 page. (and look - this discussion is happening on the 25th!) --Jajasoon 08:07, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
Really should check my calendar :( --Lizrdgizrd 08:15, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- I posted this meta-discussion at LostPedia talk:Manual of Style (proposed), which is where the larger issues should be discussed. --Jajasoon 08:20, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
Last clue 10th or 11th?
Now that I know what day it is, there is some speculation that the EW clue from today is actually the 11th glyph and that there is one that was found by Catseye that hasn't been shared yet. Should the EW clue be 10th or 11th? --Lizrdgizrd 08:17, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
- Where is this speculation located? In another forum? Can you link? As for the question of what's the proper numbering for clues, I think it's not important as it's relative to when they're found. I say we number based on when they go live on LostPedia - if a code is missing for awhile, we shouldn't try to "save" a number for it. --Jajasoon 08:24, 25 July 2006 (PDT)

It appears that the EW clue is indeed the 11th, the 10th and 12th have been found by Catseye and Didva respectively but haven't yet been shared.
Should we list ones that have not been shared though? Once they come to light we can, but until then, we;re keeping space for something that may not arrive. If Catseye's clue is found by someone else we wouldnt know about it until he confirmed it anyway. It's best, for confusion's sake, to just list them as we (the community) are informed of them. Didva's clue is #11 anyway, he/she announced it.
The HansoExposed site statistics [4] show when the clues have been found by the 1st user to enter the code. According to this timestamp, the 10th clue released was found on 07/24/06 @ 8:20pm EDT while the 11th clue released was found at 07/25/06 @ 9:54am EDT which corresponds with when the EW clue finally worked. Basically this says that the EW clue is #11 released and the Catseye clue was 10th released. All 12 clues have been found by someone but only 11 clues have been shared with everyone since catseye hasn't been heard from. --Lizrdgizrd 10:13, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
We definitely shouldn't be listing anything until we have it. I question whether or not it even HAS been found. 1) Could be by an IG plant, 2) Could be a glitch in the server, or a bug... yesterday, there were many people showing 6 when they only had 5, but the server was reading their duplicates as separate. Refreshing made it go away. IMHO, people are getting too psycho about this code thing. Eventually everyone will get all of them, who cares if one person gets one half a minute before another? --PandoraX 13:20, 25 July 2006 (PDT) ETA: Editing out the thing about Cat's Eye, there's no reason to single this person out if they don't want to share it, especially when we don't have evidence that they have a unique glyph; could be a technical bug.
These are clues that have been found by someone, but they haven't been shared yet with the community. I have no problem with not indicating who actually has found them, but the fact that they have been found and can be found should be known. There are 12 glyphs released, all have been found by someone, but one has not yet been shared with the rest of us. It was the 10th glyph released regardless of when the rest of us are told of its code. If at the end of this phase of the game you have 69 glyphs in the public and no more forthcoming, you'll wonder where this one went. The stated rules for this game are to share the information found. I'm assuming Catseye hasn't shared yet due to ignorance or pressing time matters and will do so in the near future or someone else will find it too and share. If it happens a week from now that glyph rightly belongs on this date because that was when it was found originally. --Lizrdgizrd 14:22, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
Lostpedia is a place for collecting information. "We think someone MAY have gotten a glyph no one else has, but we don't know what it is" is not information. The confusion that could be created by such a scenario is illustrated today, as we do have more codes; listing a "blank" placeholder would make it look like we list more than we have (and even if it wasn't a technical bug, we would wonder at some point if that one was a duplicate). --PandoraX 05:12, 26 July 2006 (PDT)
Glyph Number 7
Just wanted to say that I've confirmed that Mr. Beardy is indeed saying 'the deGroots' after careful analysis in my sound studio at work. After removing the background artifacts and expanding the waveform for easier listening, it's quite clear, he's probably saying it during an existing sentance. --fomalhaut 23:16, 25 July 2006 (PDT)
