Talk:Snowman joke
From Lostpedia
I just went through the lost-tv.com transcripts and found no mention of the Hurley/Charlie situation. So that's a no on that one.
Also, the nurse's joke was an entirely different joke.
(i.e. "what's black, white, and red all over?" "-- a penguin with a sunburn.") --Jonathan Fakenham
Joke? This isn't a joke! It has to be some kind of password that identifies if the person is either friendly or not. Perhaps it identifies if the person works for hanso. Calling it a joke, when Kelvin said it very seriously, is wrong. dposse 10:26, 9 July 2006 (PDT)
Consider: This identifier is in the form of a joke. Young children and easily amused individuals would find the answer funny. This explains why the article is called "Snowman Joke". If the identifying question was "What's black and white and red all over?", the circumstances would be the same, and this article would be called "Sunburn Joke". The things that these 2 jokes have in common is a possibility for multiple, equally amusing answers, so one of the answers vcound indeed be a password. So it is both an identifier and a joke. Plus, people look up Snowman Joke more that they would "Identifier Question".
Hope that clears things up.

- I found the origin of the joke in a DVD Easter Egg last night! I remember it was in Phase 1, where it says "Fire + Water: Anatomy of an Episode" or something like that. So I just Googled and found the exact way to get to it:
"Go to Fire & Water – hit your LEFT arrow TWICE – dot should now be next to the word Anatomy"
That's it! --Amberjet11 06:57, 20 September 2006 (PDT)
