There are pages for all the other "Not in Portland" characters, so there's no harm in having this. --SilvaStorm

Not at all, but it will be moved once we know either her surname, or her characters link to a main cast member! -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  02:18, 6 February 2007 (PST)

How do we know she is a flashback character? --Princess Dharma (banned) 11:57, 6 February 2007 (PST)

Cos she plays Juliet's sister in flashback. --SilvaStorm

The above was a conversation that took place before Not in Portland aired. (Just clarifying so I don't look 100% dumb. --Princess Dharma (banned) 12:04, 8 February 2007 (PST)

Her illness

  • I was wondering if anyone recalls anything said about cancer with her illness? I know she had the headrag on, which made me think she was getting chemo, but I don't seem to recall anything specifically mentioned. Like so many people on Lost (like Rose), is it just left that she is "very sick"? --PandoraX 09:46, 8 February 2007 (PST)
Yeah, I heard no mention of specifics on her illness - they're really teasing us there! Seems like cancer, but there's definitely a seed of doubt. Bellemichelle 09:51, 8 February 2007 (PST)
  • What you said. She mentions her illness, cancer is not mentioned, chemotherapy might be a theory, from the look of her head. -- Cheers 09:55, 8 February 2007 (PST)
  • What if her apparent illness is the result of her treatment to become pregnant? Remember from the Blast Door the latin phrase, "egrescit medendo, which means 'The disease worsens with the treatment,' 'The remedy makes the disease worse,' 'The remedy is worse than the disease,' or 'He becomes ill by being cured,' appears in the upper left hand corner of the map, directly to the left of the "Staff" station. The phrase had its origin as a quote from Virgil's Aeneid (book 12, line 46) or Juvenal's Satire XVI, later Francis Bacon's On Sedition."

Could her illness be the result of her treatment, and that's what the blast door is referring to? B-Field 09:36, 9 February 2007 (PST)

From the Bible

  • Was Rachel the one who got pregnant when she was much older, far beyond childbearing years, thus it was considered a miracle? I am not a religious person but I remember seeing it about someone with an R name. --PandoraX 11:59, 8 February 2007 (PST)

No but close. Rachel was unable to give birth for many many years. She offered her handmaids to her husband for them to bear his children as was custom in those days. Evetually after Jacob had many heirs Rachel gave birth to two herself. --Princess Dharma (banned) 12:03, 8 February 2007 (PST)

Ethan

When was there any implication that Ethan and Rachel are related? ---brianopp 13:28, 8 February 2007 (PST)

Nope.--CaptainInsano 13:30, 8 February 2007 (PST)

People thought he might be because he was working on her electricity in A Tale of Two Cities. -Princess Dharma (banned) 13:31, 8 February 2007 (PST)

Rachel wasn't in A Tale of Two Cities.--CaptainInsano 13:32, 8 February 2007 (PST)

Oops misread nevermind me. Lol. In that case I think it is mere speculation. --Princess Dharma (banned) 13:36, 8 February 2007 (PST)

A copy of stephen kings book carrie is seen on rachels nightstand

i dont know if it is anything but when Juliet visits her sister Rachel and a copy of this book is visible on her night stand.

Synopsis of the book

"Carrie had a secret: She possessed terrifying telekinetic powers that could make inanimate objects move, a lighted candle fall, or a door lock. Carrie could make all kinds of startling bizarre, and malevolent things happen"—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sterob70 (talkcontribs) .

Juliet

I think what Juliet did for this woman is cruel and wrong. If she can't have a baby then she was not meant to have a baby. In addition she seems to have a terminal illness and even says she might not be able to see her child grow-up. How old will that child be before he/she is orphaned??? Princess Dharma (banned) 12:04, 21 February 2007 (PST)

Alive?

Should the page really say that she is alive? We don't know if she's alive. Also Rachel Jacobs wife in the book of Genesis, dies in childbirth. So isn't there a good possibility that she died between the flashback and the present in the show? Also she was still sick during the flashback in which we saw her. So she might have died of her sickness.--HeWhoLaughsLast 15:14, 11 April 2007 (PDT)

Nope I was wrong! How ironic that they showed that in tonights episode.--HeWhoLaughsLast 23:05, 11 April 2007 (PDT)

Her Last Name

  • I think her name is partially revealed in "One of Us".. look what I found:
- may add more congested 23:01, 11 April 2007 (PDT)
  • Carlson? Any other suggestions? I may post a diff angle congested 23:18, 11 April 2007 (PDT)
  • Most likely Carlson, SLWS has a wider shot: --Ericsiegs 09:32, 12 April 2007 (PDT)
Wider shot of chart, from SLWS
Wider shot of chart, from SLWS
    • What's more is the fact that Rachel is listed as male (the highlighted section of the file). It is possible for the file to have been falsified.
    • True, though it's probable that this could just be a prop error. It would be very unlikely that Juliet would overlook that her sister is listed as male. --Ericsiegs 11:56, 12 April 2007 (PDT)
  • Rename Clearly CARLSON, RACHEL, unless there is something additional before the C as per SLWS image. While the medical files could be in error, the folder name would not be. --Jackdavinci 17:14, 12 April 2007 (PDT)
  • Rename Obviously says "Carlson" and using her surname is better disambiguation than just (Juliet's sister). Agree with Jackdavinci that the medical file is a prop error, but the folder isn't. If they went to the trouble of showing the name Rachel's name, I'm sure they got her last name right. Triptolemus 17:59, 12 April 2007 (PDT)
  • Rename If the name is shown on the folder, we can consider it to be true. --Libbyjones715 20:05, 12 April 2007 (PDT)
  • Rename-It is seen on the cancer report--Phil 03:03, 13 April 2007 (PDT)
  • Rename Unless new information comes up, use Carlson --NSHS07 (talk) 14:33, 13 April 2007 (PDT)
  • I concur (doctor talk). Isn't it weird too how a sticker has been put on the page with 'MALE' on it i.e. its not written directly on the doc - as if they deliberately changed it...--Kivipat
  • Rename: Although the papers inside the folder are a blooper, the folder itself wouldn't say "Carlson, Rachel", by mistake. --Sauron18 14:06, 14 April 2007 (PDT)
