Hygiene

I can't help but wonder what makes "hygeine" so special as to warrant not only its own article (questionable to me as it is), but also inclusion in an analysis portal? --PandoraX 11:39, 9 February 2007 (PST)

  • The Hygiene article is definitely lacking. Maybe we should call it a stub, and remove it from the portal from now?-- Dagg talk contribs4 8 11:53, 9 February 2007 (PST)
  • I'm wondering how much analysis could really be done, I guess. I find it kind of interesting/quirky enough for lostpedia... but it's not on the same level as the other fine articles in the portal... so maybe just remove it? --PandoraX 08:15, 10 February 2007 (PST)
  • I don't feel strongly either way. I added a stub template, since I personally think it might have potential for expanding. I'll add a link here as well to see if anyone else has an opinion.-- Dagg talk contribs4 8 09:03, 10 February 2007 (PST)
  • Heh, I just had to remove it. Everytime I see it on the list with the more serious analytical articles, it makes me laugh, cuz I'm thinking of someone writing their dissertation on the analysis of haircuts and frequency of shaving and baths on Lost. --PandoraX 07:55, 23 February 2007 (PST)

Secret messages

Aren't the anagrams, messages and general "easter eggs" to be considered as storyline analysis or literary techniques? I mean this as a genuine question, not even a suggestion at this point. Sure they aren't properly literary as much as they're visual, but they're part of the storytelling technique and always add extra information. Also, they're clearly recurring. I'm not sure how this could be referenced to, so I'm using "secret messages" as just a way of putting the subject out. Maybe it should be "visual clues" or something. -. Thumbnails

  • I kind of hate how clicking on an image takes you to the image's page, as opossed to the article described underneath. I always had to go back and click the caption instead, and that's kind of annoying. Is there a reason why the images don't link to the articles instead?  —Thinker   02:58, 26 February 2007 (PST)
  • Unfortunately, it's a shortcoming of wikitext, I think. I searched around for this, and it appears that there's no easy way to use the full size image, create a thumb, and have it also link. We got around this with our own custom template, Template:PortalImage, as seen on Portal:Supporting_Characters... the only way it does this is by creating a giant block of "invisible" text (actually just large font spaces) and superimposing this on the image. It's not a true thumbnail, though, because you have to shrink the image in order to do it. We could try that here later, unless Dagg can think of a better way, using direct code (I'm curious about this also). --PandoraX 03:15, 26 February 2007 (PST)
