Move the article
- I propose we move the article to a more fitting title, like "Omar (freighter)". -- Sam talk contrib 19:27, 28 February 2008 (PST)
- Agreed This would help due to the confusion with Sayid's Omar... -- Nusentinsaino talk contribs email 19:29, 28 February 2008 (PST)
- Agreed Probably we will see him more later ;p not only in The Constant, maybe we knowledge to know his last name later too, this could conclude the problem ;p -Shadowriver 17:40, 29 February 2008 (PST)
- Agreed context should always be preferred over episode title for disambiguation, since most characters can easily appear in later episodes. - Tvb 19:08, 15 March 2008 (PDT)
- What do you guys think about "Omar (freighter crew)"? The parenthetical of just "freighter" makes it seem like he's a boat, a la Elizabeth (sailboat). Robert K S (talk) 19:38, 15 March 2008 (PDT)
- A reasonable suggestion. - Tvb 06:55, 16 March 2008 (PDT)

Rename
I apologize for having acted before bringing this before the Talk page. I propose we make this freighter crew "Omar" the main Omar for the following reasons:
- Sayid's Omar was a one-time flashback character from Season 1 - probably never to be seen / referenced again.
- This new Omar is active in current Lost happenings, his presence now spanning over 4 eps (4.5-4.8). Inevitably, as he is more active in the plot, many new Omar links (referring to the freighter crew member) will be popping up because...
- ...people will be too lazy to make sure there's only one Omar...
- ...people will not remember there is an Omar from a Season 1 Sayid flashback...
- ...so I think it is in our best interest to help them out and make this Omar THE Omar. I have already gone through and insured that all links referring to Sayid's Omar redirect to Omar (Solitary). As far as the Omar page, the only redirection links that exist are currently Omar (freighter crew) (which is currently serving as the article's home base) and Omar (The Constant) (which is only linked to in Season 4 and Portal:Freighter - articles I, personally, can't edit). What do you guys think?--Overworkedirish 23:42, 22 March 2008 (PDT)
- Rename to Omar I forgot there was another Omar, so I know that it will happen again. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 22:01, 25 March 2008 (PDT)
- Rename I too forgot about the other Omar. I'm sure this Omar will become more important as the season continues. BETTYFIZZW (Talk) 11:41, 28 March 2008 (PDT)
- Rename to Omar with disamb to other one. -- LOSTonthisdarnisland 21:09, 29 March 2008 (PDT)
"The Shape of Things to Come"
Was Omar a redshirt/killed in this episode? Did anyone see his face in the mercenaries? ---- LOSTonthisdarnisland 04:58, 25 April 2008 (PDT)
- I don't know; we actually only know for sure that one mercenary was attacked by the monster; we don't even know that that mercenary is dead (though I'm sure he is).C.m. 15:06, 25 April 2008 (PDT)
Thoughts on Omar
I don't think Omar has had a single spoken line yet (as of "the Shape of Things to Come.") I find it weird that he was specifically introduced at the same time as Keamy, yet he's been such a non-entity and is actually one of about 6 mercenaries. What makes him more noteworthy than other other mercs?C.m. 15:04, 25 April 2008 (PDT)
- We don't know that he's a mercenary. He doesn't have a gun in the skeet-shooting scene. He might just be a deckhand. --Pyramidhead 02:26, 29 April 2008 (PDT)
- He's got a pretty good-looking toy gun, then. :-) Robert K S (talk) 06:05, 29 April 2008 (PDT)
- Thanks Robert for getting that image. Also, he was cast specifically as a military-type, and along with Keamy, was called as virtual bodyguards on the freighter when Ray sounded the alarm in the sick bay.--Overworkedirish 13:32, 29 April 2008 (PDT)
- Omar actually has had several lines... "We last ported Fiji, so at least we know we're still in the Pacific" being his most noteworthy. I agree that he's nothing more than a background character and it's a little weird that he was introduced alongside Keamy, but he HAS had dialouge. Evil-pineapples 19:51, 29 April 2008 (PDT)
- We should change the very description of him - he is a mercenary, not a crew member. Malachi 13:07, 2 May 2008 (PDT)

Not on the island
The injured merc is not Omar. --Pyramidhead 07:48, 2 May 2008 (PDT)
- Agreed, they look nothing a like; and he wasn't even credited as a guest star this episode. Infact, he wasn't even in this episode.Marko 14:04, 2 May 2008 (PDT)
That's strange. The first impression I had when seeing the injured merc was that it was Omar. He didn't have a speaking role, perhaps this is why he wasn't credited? -- Sam talk contrib 14:14, 2 May 2008 (PDT)
- I also think it was not Omar. And I mean, they credited John Terry for his 2 seconds of sitting-in-a-chair, so apparently they do (sometimes) credit non speaking roles. --DJVok 01:33, 3 May 2008 (PDT)
- Omar has not appeared in neither "The Shape of Things to Come" nor "Something Nice Back Home". Ever references to these episodes ought to be removed. Pierre80 03:05, 3 May 2008 (PDT)
- I agree as well, there has been no mention of his name in that episode transcript or the cast list, and the only way to determine that it was really him would to get confirmation by one of the producers. TheDharmaVan 09:59, 3 May 2008 (PDT)

Omar - Freighter Merc
Should Omar be moved to "Major Freightie" or should he remain as a "Minor Freightie" ? We see that he's Keamy's second-in-command for the mercs, and he's always seen with Keamy. (Except when Keamy goes to kill Michael, and when Gault and Keamy pull out Ben's file.) Marko 17:37, 13 May 2008 (PDT)
- I think we should wait and evaluate it once we see his role in the finale episodes.--Overworkedirish 18:04, 13 May 2008 (PDT)
