Talk:Not in Portland/Theories
From Lostpedia
Can someone edit the part about the Discharge and the system failure? It's a mess, and more of a discussion/debate than a theory, but I'd rather not change it myself because I don't know that I oculd do the best job. Thanks :) --Limabeen 18:28, 11 February 2007 (PST)
Time passing on the island
There are very few incidents which are coincident in real-world and island time which makes a 'speed of time passing' analysis difficult. However, the scenes I remember that may be useful for further study are:- The antarctic station detecting the electromagnetic anomaly vs. Desmond's timeline, and the TV show shown to Jack during his emprisonment by the Others. Either of these may contain enough date information to confirm/deny a large speed of time differential. It is conceivable that the island conveys a 'grow old slower' ability to the inhabitants though.
It looks like the sky turning purple may have altered the timeline somehow. The effect - wormhole to some new place, gone back in time, gone forward in time, in a stasis bubble - so far no indication.
The Secret Clue
What is the secret clue in "Not in Portland" and what is the connection to Adam and Eve? The secret clue was that Mittelos is an anagram of Lost Time. Don't know yet how this connects to Adam and Eve, though... Limabeen 09:47, 18 February 2007 (PST)
I was playing around the some of the phrases shown in the Room 23 film, and got "Gerald DeGroot" out of "Plant a good seed and joyfully gather Fruit." This might just link Adam & Eve to Gerald & Karen. Obviously, there are more letters in the phrase than the 13 that make up "GERALD DEGROOT." This theory might be completly off-base, but it makes sense considering he is featured at least once in film. --SBF 18:24, 10 March 2007 (PST)
