Talk:Lost Wiki (website)
From Lostpedia
Sorry, Marik! Didn't realize you were working on it until I had already put it up. Pretty freaky wiki interface they're using, eh? --Minderbinder 16:15, 5 October 2006 (PDT)
No problem, man. It is pretty weird, but I really do like the background, with the island. But I don't believe it is as good as our Lostpedia. They're effin' ABC. They do whatever they want. If they want something, they'll get it. Some really weird random, but smart and funny guy left a comment about Lostpedia on their front page. I wonder who that was? :) (If you're smart you figure out it's me.) --Marik7772003 16:18, 5 October 2006 (PDT)
Yeah, it's going to be a disaster, have you seen the ABC "Forum"? It's an unmoderated joke. :) I would never use the official ABC Lost wiki for any kind of reliable information. I will, however, create a page for Lostpedia there...lol --PandoraX 16:19, 5 October 2006 (PDT)
The wiki-nazis probably control it over there... but you never know. They could be cool. If you need any help, I'll help with the Lostpedia page. --Marik7772003 16:20, 5 October 2006 (PDT)
Yeah, please do help, Marik :) I just put a basic skeleton in there to get our name in before there were many pages. Didn't do any fancy bells and whistles --PandoraX 16:27, 5 October 2006 (PDT)
Their formatting is WEIRD. You can't do the regular [www.lostpedia.com|Lostpedia], I believe, you have to go thru a whole process and stuff. --Marik7772003 16:29, 5 October 2006 (PDT)
The other thing I wonder is that yes, the base page is linked as an "official site", but the individual pages are editable by anyone... pobably people I'd trust a lot less than anyone I'd see in lostpedia. So I guess user beware, even with the 'official' tag. --PandoraX 16:37, 5 October 2006 (PDT)
- Kind of odd for ABC to try and take back the Wiki "Lost" for themselves. I'm glad they sponsered the experience. I'm glad they allow people to do cool things on their official sites. I'm glad for every dollar they spend on "Lost" and anything related. But a "Lost Wiki" when they know there's already one (and others)? I almost feel insulted. Who at ABC heard there was a fan wiki for "Lost" and said: "Hey, let's make our own official one! It'll be better than all the others cause it'll be on OUR website!" Okay, I'm just fuming, but I feel better now. So who's going to keep this article up to date? How do we even go about it? Tebor 17:15, 6 October 2006 (PDT)
- Yes, this is as people say, about "ads and eyeballs" and isn't about collecting information on LOST at all. It doesn't even have entries in it for Charlotte Malkin or her doctor! Its not exactly detailed, and is painfully difficult to use! -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 07:02, 9 October 2006 (PDT)
I do not know why you guys are against Lost Wiki. Personally, I find Lost Wiki easier to edit, and overall better. I'm not saying that because I am a Moderator at Lost Wiki, I'm saying that because in my opinion, it is true! The information on Lost Wiki is accurate, at least ever since I joined in April 2007. I guarantee that the information on Lost Wiki is reliable. --1LostFan 18:46, 7 November 2007 (PST)
- With any wiki, you can NEVER guarantee 100% accuracy. If you could, you would have to be some uber-wiki. --Blueeagleislander 23:13, 7 November 2007 (PST)
Why?
Why does ABC see a great site like lostpedia and decide they should copy it to make money? Lostpedia is way better. There is no need for the "offical" one. --Zeke 11:09, 22 November 2006 (PST)
- They took on another unofficial wiki, hosted by Wetpaint. There is enough room for all of us. In a way I'm happy we aren't the official ABC wiki, because if we were, I'd want to be paid for my moderation, and they wouldn't do that :-) -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 11:12, 22 November 2006 (PST)
ABC had a contract with Lost Wiki. It chose that site, because in their opinion, it was the most user friendly site. Recently, ABC's contract with the site expired, and was not renewed. ABC never did anything on the site, and left it in my hands, along with the other Moderators. It is a great site, with or without the "official" status. In fact, now that is is not "official", we can add video and picture galleries. --#1LostFan 18:53, 8 November 2007 (PST)
