Talk:List of overlaps between 24 and Lost
From Lostpedia
renamed
- Note: this article was renamed to be consistent with the article for Alias: List of overlaps between Alias and Lost. Given our past program of elimination of the word "List" in article names however, both articles might again be renamed. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 02:35, 10 August 2007 (PDT)
- Both renames don't make any sense relative to all the other Lostpedia article titles. We have countless articles on works that aren't a part of Lost, but have some significance (usually much more tenuous than is the case for, for example, Alias) to understanding Lost. Because this is Lostpedia, all articles are automatically assumed to only include information where it is relevant to Lost, so it's redundant and arbitrary to repeat that in the titles. List of overlaps between Alias and Lost should simply be Alias, and List of overlaps between 24 and Lost should simply be 24; otherwise we'll need to rename hundreds of other articles to bring them in line with these two. -Silence 05:13, 10 August 2007 (PDT)
- Also, it is just bizarre that this move was made with no discussion after Talk:List_of_overlaps_between_Alias_and_Lost#Why_such_a_long_title?. Two wrongs don't make a right. Either the article should be deleted or it should be given the simpler title; we don't have articles like List of overlaps between Watchmen and Lost, we just have Watchmen. -Silence 05:16, 10 August 2007 (PDT)
Deletion
This article should be deleted for the following reasons:
- Just shared cast, no plot overlaps.
- If this stays, he would need to have articles like this for every show that every exsisted. What's next Heros, Desperate Housewives, America's Next Top Model?
- Having twelve shared actors or so doesn't mean the shows have a lot in common. Almost any primetime television show probably has had a dozen lost cast members or so appear on it.
And Yes, I know we have List of Overlaps between Alias and Lost, but that actually has plot overlaps and had some of the same writers on producers working on it. As for as I know 24 doesn't. --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 14:40, 26 August 2007 (PDT)
- Agreed - I love 24, but until we hear 'you all everybody' over Bauer's car radio or experience a similar crossover, shared cast just won't cut it.--Kivipat
- Don't agree: It's a nice trivia part for all Lost fans and also for the fans of the other series (24). If, in future, there are pages for other shows, we can put them in one trivia page "Shared cast" or "Overlaps between Lost and other TV series", but not delete them. -- Steff talk contribs email 07:56, 29 August 2007 (PDT)
- Agreed: This page is lacking content aside from a list of shared cast. And to be honest that relates in no way to Lost whatsoever. IMO the Alias/Lost links are the only article we should have comparing 2 shows because it shares many more allusions to Lost then just cast. Delete this article. -Mr.Leaf 08:38, 29 August 2007 (PDT)
- Don't agree - And I don't watch 24, I just think this article is a good idea. --random2502 11:43, 3 September 2007 (PDT)
- Agreed - We shouldn't really compare Lost to any other hit tv series.-- Dan talk contribs email 12:49, 3 September 2007 (PDT)
- Agreed - This is just silly. There is no need to compare shared cast members. It will not help us understand lost any better. --Sauronsmatrix 11:23, 8 September 2007 (PDT)
- Partial Agree - I was thinking how about a page where we have every main cast member and show what other series they've played a main character in. --Blueeagleislander 16:09, 3 December 2007 (PST)
- Agreed - Shared cast is not relevant enough. 24 and Lost happen to be two shows that hire a lot of minor characters, so there are bound to be casting overlaps. But an article like this needs to have significant connections with regard to the content of the shows, not just the actors. And content-wise, 24 is no more closely related to Lost than the average show. -- Graft talk contributions 19:24, 11 December 2007 (PST)
