Naomi's People

Consider what Ben said about Naomi's people, should we include that information here, or create a separate article ("The Bad Guys") for Naomi's people? Both articles would be very similar, which is why I think it's better to leave it as a mention here, but I dunno. --Sauron18 18:35, 17 June 2007 (PDT)

I think there should be an article for "the bad guys". Dharmatel4 06:24, 18 June 2007 (PDT)
I've added a subsection about the Freigthers --Hunter61 22:04, 10 September 2007 (PDT)

Rename

  • The name on the freighter is "Kahana", a hawaiian name, rename?? --Kivipat20:10, 28 February 2008 (PST)
  • Picture for proof.

  • Agreed --Hunter61 20:59, 28 February 2008 (PST)
  • The name is indeed visible in two different shots (the one linked to above, and on the port and starboard stern in the aerial-rear shot of the helipads as the helicopter lands). Presumably a rename wouldn't be a problem with the many links across the site to freighter? Robert K S 21:03, 28 February 2008 (PST)
  • Agree Do it and do it quick. --Ohmyn0 (talk) 21:56, 28 February 2008 (PST)
  • Agree - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:01, 28 February 2008 (PST)
  • Agree It should be changed just like we changed the Submarine to Galaga, User:ElliotThomas08:36, 29 February 2008
  • Agree Nothing to add to that. - TheAma1 07:27, 29 February 2008 (PST)
  • Agree: Can someone please get a nice clean high quality cap though for the main page infobox to demonstrate, and then I'll rename the page - cause right now if you don't look on talk there's no reason one might know why its called Kahana. --Nickb123 (Talk) 08:16, 29 February 2008 (PST)

I suppose now what's done is done- but I wanted to know why the Enhanced episode says the boat's name is the Kahala? It clearly says Kahana on the side of the ship. I know enhanced captions aren't canon or anything- but you'd think they'd get the name of the boat right. Should we include this information on the page somewhere?--MetallichickX 23:10, 7 March 2008 (PST)

Yeah, it's either because of a typo/miscommunication on the part of the Enhanced folks, or because the actual ship is named the Kahala, and the boat's designation was doctored for production purposes. I think the latter is a possibility based on the fact that all of the Enhanced trivia that followed dealt with the supply functions of the real-life freighter. Robert K S (talk) 23:15, 7 March 2008 (PST)

Captian

The Captain should be added as one of the crew. --CharlieReborn 12:07, 29 February 2008 (PST)

Production Notes

Does anyone have information about the "real world" ship that is used in the filming of these scenes? They certainly appear to have been shot on location. It looks like an oil rig supply vessel--I'd be curious to know.

Charlotte

Charlotte is a Cultural Anthropologist; therefore, is it fair to say that she has not being doing any work since she's been on the island? I assumed, after she finally got to the beach, that she was studying the Losties within the realm of her field. -- LOSTonthisdarnisland 04:35, 1 March 2008 (PST)

Some sort of 70s platform supply ship

Could anyone understand what Michael called the guy he sent to the supply room? I thought I heard "Jack"--Phil (talk) 03:42, 21 March 2008 (PDT)

Needed: better radio room picture

Does anyone have a high-quality copy of "The Constant" that they can source a good picture of the radio room from? Robert K S (talk) 12:46, 22 March 2008 (PDT)

I added one, but it was my first time ever uploading a picture so someone let me know if I did it wrong.--MetallichickX 15:50, 22 March 2008 (PDT)
Perfect, thanks! Robert K S (talk) 16:10, 22 March 2008 (PDT)

"Mission" section

  • ...REALLY needs work. Wording, grammar, AND accuracy! I don't have time right now to rethink the whole thing, but howabout starting with something like this:--Overworkedirish 18:31, 26 March 2008 (PDT)
    • Naomi arrived on the Island by parachuting from a helicopter dispatched from the freighter. She claimed that the crew formed part of a search and recovery team hired by Penelope Widmore. Charlie found this to be false when he spoke with Penny via the Looking Glass station. ("Through the Looking Glass") His warning message is conveyed to the Losties, splitting their allegiances between Jack (pro-freighties) and John (anti-freighties). Daniel Faraday confessed to Jack that "rescuing you and your people? Can't really say its our primary objective." A flashback reveals Matthew Abaddon and Naomi discussing ... INSERT SECTION ABOUT THAT CONVERSATION. ("Confirmed Dead"). Ben's assertion's to John made in "The Other Woman" are verified when Captain Gault reveals the boat's owner and dictator of his orders as Charles Widmore ("Ji Yeon").--Overworkedirish 18:31, 26 March 2008 (PDT)

2 Helicopters

Someone said there was debate as to whether there were 2 helicopters. There is no debate. 2 helicopters are portrayed on the show, one that crashed and one still operating. To say otherwise is to propose a theory on a fact page. Naomi's statement was backed up by visual evidence of a crash and sound evidence of a failing copter by more than one person. We must stick with what is presented and leave out theories until disproven.--John Burger 22:16, 6 April 2008 (PDT)

I agree with you on the latter point, but I don't think it's been indisputably proven there were two helicopters. Even in the most definitive exchange on the subject, Frank doesn't make explicit what "these things" were. It could be a Wallis WA-116 autogiro or some kind of jetpack for all we know. Robert K S (talk) 06:57, 7 April 2008 (PDT)
NAOMI: Sorry, Frank, but I'm going first and that's all there is to it.
FRANK: No offense, but I was flying these things when you were still in grade school. If anybody's gotta go first, it should be me.
NAOMI: Yeah, I need you here to transport the science team, Frank.
FRANK: What the hell are you gonna be doing?
NAOMI: That's need-to-know. You don't.
In Catch-22, the characters refer to it as a helicopter 5 times, although they do think it sounds strange and question whether one can eject out of a helicopter (though the science team were later shown doing this). But then in The Brig this exchange happens:
SAYID: [To Naomi] My name's Sayid Jarrah. I understand your helicopter crashed onto the Island.
NAOMI: Actually it crashed in the water.
So if it's not a helicopter, then Naomi is lying about it. --Jackdavinci 00:05, 10 May 2008 (PDT)

Secondary Protocol does not imply Dharma connection

I removed the following item: "The members of the Kahana are associated with, a part of, or sent by the DHARMA Initiative, as revealed by the Secondary Protocol file." This belongs on the theory page if anywhere. We already knew that the Freighter people know about some of the Dharma stations from when Daniel and Charlotte seek out the Tempest. This doesn't imply that they are part of the Dharma Initiative anymore than Ben having files on Keamy makes Ben part of the paramilitary forces in Uganda. Both Widmore and Ben have files on each other and their respective activities. --Jackdavinci 23:52, 9 May 2008 (PDT)

New Traffic light system

Here’s how I see it:
Alive = Green
Defected = Yellow?
Unknown = Orange
Off Island = Purple
Dead = Red

Please see Kahana for a good example, I belive that this should be used on every article to give the site consistency. --Rbfskywalker 14:28, 3 June 2008 (PDT)

  • Under Main Characters Michael was decided to be dead. I think he should be changed to dead here as well.--Messeis 13:05, 10 July 2008 (PDT)

Kocol, Lacour och Redfern???

Where do this names come from? Only two of the mercenary background cast are named (Copeland and McCord) during season 4, right? Are there other sources? Pierre80 07:09, 4 June 2008 (PDT)

I believe those names were only misheard.--Baker1000 07:15, 4 June 2008 (PDT)
Unless I am mistaken, we now know the names of all six of the mercenaries who traveled to the Island: Keamy, Omar, Mayhew, Kocol, Lacour, and Redfern. Robert K S (talk) 11:20, 4 June 2008 (PDT)
Those were the original interpretations of their names. Turned out, both were badly misheard (watch the episode: there are definitely other words). See Talk:Mercenary team. With the transcript of "There's No Place Like Home, Parts 2 & 3" finally up, it became clear that not not only their real names were differnt, but that the third mercenary was named as well. It was I who removed all previous interpretations of their names (except for talk pages) and renamed all three articles.
P.S. Funny. I remember watching the scene for the first time making a mental note "Cool, LP will have another two extras names!". So when those versions first appeared, I started using them without second thought. My mistake :) Malachi 14:43, 4 June 2008 (PDT)

Are we sure that the "new" names are correct? Kocol and Redfern both seem like odd names. Redford, on the other hand, would be a not-unlikely surname for an American. Lacour isn't really odd, even for a black guy; he could be from Louisiana. --CurlyHairedGuy 15:05, 4 June 2008 (PDT)

In that case I repeat the same question that I aked before: What is in the closed captions? Malachi 15:40, 4 June 2008 (PDT)
What's in the transcript. Robert K S (talk) 17:48, 4 June 2008 (PDT)
Kocol and Redfern are both legitimate last names. Just do a google search. -- Sam  T  C  14:35, 10 July 2008 (PDT)
