I vote to keep it as it is since "Hatch" has a double meaning, especially when you take into account the first season. We should not imply that all viewers only want to know about current episodes... --aurora glacialis 16:33, 16 April 2006 (PDT)

I vote this page be kept, but it needs to be revamped, and it needs to specifically describe the hatch itself: its discovery, who found out about it and how, and how the hatch became the key image that haunted viewers over the summer between seasons one and two. I mean, 'the hatch' was a major plot point of the season cliffhanger, it deserves its own page. Of course, after the explosion and the opening of the hatch, it ceased being just a hatch and became The Swan. ZachsMind 17:11, 19 April 2006 (PDT)

I respectfully disagree. "The Hatch", while it is the entrance to "The Swan", is still part of The Swan. The Hatch already redirects to The Swan. Since this entire site is potentially a spoiler, someone who isn't up to date shouldn't be viewing the site anyway. If they are coming here, they should expect to be spoiled. This page could be included as a section of The Swan, or as a sub-page, linked to from The Swan (ex: [[The Swan/hatch|hatch]]). See also The Staff and its sub-pages for how this can be done. I updated those subpages today to be named "The Staff/..." instead of "Medical Station:...".

Merge the hatch is part of the swan, it is only natural that it should be included on the swas page, as a separate section of course. Koolaidman 15:03, 26 April 2006 (PDT)

The Staff/Medical Station has multiple pages for the different areas, so it makes sense to have multiple pages for the Swan. I suggest we create a new cat called The Swan (like was done for The Staff) and include this page, the Station 3 Computer and Gun vault and the main Swan article. --Sid67 07:55, 27 April 2006 (PDT)

I merged the hatch-article and The Swan-article back in February. I still think that there's only one "the hatch" and that's The Swan. When the characters talk about a hatch, they mean The Swan. Like Locke's "my hatch". --Jambalaya 08:14, 27 April 2006 (PDT)

Didn't Michael say in Three Minutes that the Others have their own hatch? So wouldn't they now all be "hatches"?--Bremerton 19:37, 17 May 2006 (PDT)

I think everyone has a good point, so I recommend a solution specifically designed for such situations: a Disambiguation Page. The disambiguation page will point out that there are multiple uses of the term "hatch": to refer to a literal hatch (make a page called "Hatch (Term)" that discusses the various uses of the word in depth), to refer to The Swan since the Losties refer to it as The Hatch, and to refer to Stations since it is also used as a general term to refer to each of them. With this approach, we minimize confusion and increase organization. This situation was specifically designed for, why not take advantage of it? --chrisbliss18 15:08, 19 May 2006 (PDT)

I agree, a disambiguation page is the best idea. BladeHamilton 09:28, 20 May 2006 (PDT)
It's a disambig page now. I'm removing the template the merge template. -- Ramirez Selvarn 17:20, 24 May 2006 (PDT)

needs expansion

the hatch is a season one term; it refers specifically to the vertical tunnel entrance to the swan... the fact that characters refer to station 3, the swan as the hatch in the second season is a matter of convenience --kaini. 22:22, 15 July 2006 (PDT)

So what are you saying create a seperate page for the vertical tunnel?--CaptainInsano

Idea

Does anyone think we should redirect this page to DHARMA Initiative stations and include on that page The Hatch (Swan Exterior) and The ? (Pearl Exterior)? --SilvaStorm
