Glyphs (Borders, Symbols, ...) possible meanings

I find it interesting that there are (at least) two different border styles to the glyphs. The borders may be a clue to the proper arrangement of the clips. --Doc 12:51, 25 July 2006 (PDT)

Any thoughts about meanings of the symbols themselves? One or two look like stylized human forms. They all look too complex to just be random scribblings. --Mramsey 14:46, 27 July 2006 (PDT)

Since Sri Lanka Video is stage 3 of 5 of The Lost Experience, it might be that stages 4 or 5 will have something to do with the Glyphs (maybe they are some sort of puzzle that must be pieced together, and the codes with no glyph will match the areas if the puzzle where there are no connection between the pieces)... -- Batmagoo 06:34, 25 August 2006 (PDT)

Well, the dotted triangles may have led to the dotted square...maybe they're a clue to the order? --Zoe 05:01, 5 September 2006 (PDT)

I've noticed that most of them are done in a style similar to Aboriginal Australian and African Khoisan cliff drawings. Also I wonder if the color scheme has any significance. While most of the glyphs are Black on White (32 so far) there are also

1 Red on Black

2 Black on Red

5 Black on Light Green (one of them on lined paper)

3 Black on Green

1 Black on White Bricks

1 Black on Light Blue

2 Black on Yellow

1 Black on Gold

1 Black on Blue

1 White on Black

2 Green on Black

1 Black on a window. Behind the window is what looks like either hay or grass

and 1 Black on a montage of pictures. --Tricksterson 07:43, 6 September 2006 (PDT)

Templates

Arcon, excellent work with the templates, they look great! My one thing is... would it be too much to request that part of the template be for the glyph images, so that we can combine the gallery with the list of codes? Since they said each code would correspond to a glyph (so far this has been the case for all except the UK podcast one, and the one obtained from Cat's Eye, which we don't know the source of), and I wonder if the image and what they match with will be important. --PandoraX 22:12, 27 July 2006 (PDT)

Length of Page

This just occured to me also. We are getting 70 in total. With that many images and a long list of code templates, are there going to be logistical concerns for having a page that's that long, such as for dialup viewers? --PandoraX 22:15, 27 July 2006 (PDT)

  • As the one who put the code below, I agree and have removed them. 11:04, 31 July 2006 (EDT)
    • I understand your concerns, but, you must recognize that those are also applied to the Sri Lanka Video page, and to the Hansoexposed.com page... Apparently, on those pages, people are not worried about that... --Batmagoo 05:34, 25 August 2006 (PDT)
  • Actually, I use dialup, and I have no trouble viewing the page - even on my 31.2kbps connection. --Zoe 03:33, 5 September 2006 (PDT)

QUARANTINE image

Now before anyone says all the images will be the same, we all have variable quality editors and monitors, so I think everyone who has taken a screenshot of QUARANTINE should psot a link to their image, and we'll use whichever one is voted as having the best quality. My screenshot is located here (in LostPedia). --Zoe 03:35, 5 September 2006 (PDT)

I don't think we need an image for QUARANTINE since it doesn't have a glyph. This gallery is only for Glyphs, not images of where they were found. That's why I've mocked up a few of them- like the armband ones from Comic-con, and the DJ Dan Live one.
-- Chris 04:05, 5 September 2006 (PDT)
If you want to do a mockup, here is the Verizon ad that led to QUARANTINE. --elpaw 04:10, 5 September 2006 (PDT)
Ah yeah, forgot about that ad. I'll get right on that.
-- Chris 04:14, 5 September 2006 (PDT)
They also did the same thing for VACCINE --Nickb123 (Talk) 14:30, 15 August 2007 (PDT)

Delete

Delete: The gallery is nice enough, but the images are listed with better descriptions on the Hansoexposed.com article, giving better sourcing too to the correct dates etc. Also, if one was to look at the gallery properly, they'd notice many glyphs are missing (i.e. ones which had no glyph image due to being audio, or hidden in another way visually). The hansoexposed.com page is better for this with its specific "Audio Glyph" and "No Glyph" images, fully explaining in its description sections why the codes in question don't have glyphs etc. This page just further complicates the main HE nav Template:HansoExposed. Delete and redirect "Glyphs" to hansoexposed.com --Nickb123 (Talk) 14:30, 15 August 2007 (PDT)

Delete Gallery What I think should be done is delete the pictures, then have a link to the hansoexposed site, with the seen explanation above. --Rhcm123 19:38, 16 August 2007 (PDT)

I'm withdrawing the nomination, as in hindsight it works better to have the gallery under the Rachel Blake nav, etc. --Nickb123 (Talk) 12:17, 28 August 2007 (PDT)
