Talk:Dark Territory
From Lostpedia
Dark territory = "other space"
Isn't dark territory the other side of the line Mr. Friendly tells Jack and co. they can't cross? --Ernest 21:53, 12 May 2006 (PDT)
Where are we getting the Dark Territory name? --Mescad 19:33, 25 May 2006 (PDT)
It's first mentioned by Sayid in Numbers when he's looking at Danielle's maps. He says "Territoire Fonce, Shannon translated it. It means dark territory". Kiwipat 23:49, 29 May 2006 (PDT)
Yeah it's a lousy french to english translation. Territoire foncé would mean dark territory only as the color of the territory is a dark shade. The correct french for that would've been "Territoire sombre", which indicates spookiness --Corrosionx 23:53, 29 May 2006 (PDT)
- Let me say that 'Territoire Fonce' is not the same as 'Territoire Noir'.
- 'Territoire Fonce' = Dark Territory
- 'Territoire Noir' = Black Territory (but can be seen as 'dark')
- If you want to know anything about the languages: french, dutch (and a little latin) just ask!

Nope. Sorry, Rubus, but Corrosionx is correct. I'm French. No French person would ever say "territoire foncé". The adjective "foncé" is only used to refer to a shade of colour. As in, "Cette table est gris foncé": "This table is dark grey". It can only refer to a colour, not to a territory. And it never suggests spookiness, or anything unpleasant. The correct translation for "dark territory" would indeed be "territoire sombre", or "territoire obscur". As I recall, Sayid also mispronounces it, saying "fonce" instead of "foncé". The word "fonce" isn't an adjective, it's a conjugated form of the verb "foncer", which means to hurry or to go quickly, often because you're late or something needs doing immediately. "Le territoire fonce" literally means "The territory is hurrying up", or "The territory is running". Aridd 04:05, 16 February 2008 (PST)
Blast door reference
- The blast door map refers to the area as a "primary nexus of Cerberus-related activity". ("Lockdown")
The above was in the article, but it seems to be speculation, as the notation referenced does not seem to be describing any particular area. Can anyone shed some light on why it's listed that way? I've removed it in the meantime. Fat Burger 09:55, 11 May 2007 (PDT)
Too Brief?!
This article is way too short and undetailed. It could at least mention that this is the main hangout for Smokey, describe what happened when the losties went there, etc. --Apollo Candy 16:25, 11 March 2008 (PDT)
- Cleaned it up and added some new info, for example that Rousseau's shelter was located there, as well as info on the Losties' adventures. Hope the article is better now. Wstonefi 15:21, 15 March 2008 (PDT)
- Who has said that Rousseau's shelter was located in the Dark Territory? --Hanso 06:10, 5 April 2008 (PDT)
