Talk:Outside references to Lost
From Lostpedia
source of info re: active creation of Easter Eggs: Lost podcasts. WCFrancis 17:53, 8 February 2006 (PST)
'Allusions in Lost' would be a more accurate headline for the article, an easter egg is something you personally need to find, i.e. a hidden menu on a dvd. --skks 10:03, 12 March 2006 (PST)
- I agree that this is the standard meaning of easter egg, i.e. within a software interface. However I've seen the term commonly used within the context of episodes to denote significant tidbits that the producers have put in a scene-- Sawyer in the background of Boone at the Australian police station, the lotto girl being the same as Sawyer's GF, Jack walking by when Shannon & her stepmother are at the hospital, Jack appearing as Desmond readies to exercise at the stadium, ETC. Simple stuff, but most other shows don't do this, but to me these are easter eggs, as are scenes that beg for DVR-- the blast door map, Jin's resume, the ticket counter and listening post displays, and even visions in Eko's dream. See Humpys.net for a full section on easter eggs and bloopers. I'll probably write a new article soon to replace the Easter Egg redirect to Allusions. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T13:01, 22 July 2006 (PDT)
Most of the things mentioned aren't really easter eggs or allusions. How's Walt appearing to Shannon talking backwards an inside joke? --skks 11:58, 31 March 2006 (PST)
To me, the "Allusions in Lost" list seems mostly like a list of items that weren't quite strong enough to make separate pages in the category: Cultural references, but were still 'probably' there (I agree with some of them, but I deleted Nozz-a-la Cola, which has its own page already, and just linked it). I think we should probably be concentrating on the "Allusions from Lost" category. --PandoraX 06:47, 5 November 2006 (PST)
- Ok, I got what to do about this problem... I took out the "Allusions in Lost" and inserted them into a new page I created (which have a lot more): Movies, TV and misc. pop culture allusions in Lost. I'm now going to change the title to "Allusions to Lost", so that it is clear it is only from outside-the-show sources. This makes it easier to understand what this page is about. --PandoraX 12:11, 5 November 2006 (PST)
I don't really get the 'Walking Life' section. How is an 8-pack or 16-pack of crayons a reference to LOST? Not only are these two very common sizes of crayon packs, they're also two very common numbers. We might as well add Crayola to this list for selling 8-packs of crayons. --Thenumbersdude 11:59, 16 February 2008 (PST)

Dwight's blog, "DHARMA Initiative"
I just read this for the first time...hilarious! Wouldn't it be fun to Wikify this? --Amberjet11 08:49, 11 May 2007 (PDT)

THE DHARMA INITIATIVE
Many, many people have written replies to my blogs. Literally TENS
of people from all over the country. Some girls have even included
their email addresses and expressed an interest in getting to know
"Dwight" better in a romantic sense.
[note: I was directed to let all the ladies know that "Dwight" is
off the market. L (sad face)]
But no one, NO ONE!, has ever thought to ask "Dwight" what his
theories were on the mysteries of the show "Lost."
Watch and learn:
First off, Sawyer is way cooler than Dr. Jack and could kick his
doctor ass if they had a throw down. And this new enormous African
fellow, Eko could kick both their asses in a pinch.
Kate could kick the little blonde mom's ass. And she could also kick
the fat guy's ass. And the old bald guy too.
The Korean guy could probably kick the black guy's ass, as well as
his son who is missing.
But Eko could probably kick Kate and the Korean guy's ass together at
the same time.
Therefore, I think Kate and Eko should hook up. (plus it would be
kind of funny, because he's so much taller than she is.)
1) I think the "others" are actually the employees of [[Oceanic
Airlines]]. Who has ever heard of Oceanic Airlines! I think it was a
fake airline that purposefully crashes and does experiments on its
passengers.
2) I think that the Dharma Initiative would make a cool band name.
3) I think the polar bears are actually hippies from the Dharma
Institute in polar bear outfits.
4) I think the asian guy from the Dharma film is the Korean guy's
dad. Think about it. They're BOTH asian.
Those are but some of my many theories. Remember, they are theories
and not fact.
That is All,
Dwight k Schrute.
More Marvel
As a regular reader of several Marvel titles, I can provide some additional references. I'm not sure how in-depth you want to be here, though. In a recent issue of Iron Man, a news screen is shown in the background, which says something like "Jack Shepherd - The Lost Found" The first appears to be the end of a sentence, and cut off on the right appears to possible be a question mark (As in "The Lost Found?"). And below this text, it mentions the find815.com site. And in the most recent issue of The New Avengers, there are government agents stationed in a "non-descript" van, surveilling, and it's marked with Oceanic Airlines logos. If you do want to provide these items on the page, I can provide more detailed info (i.e., issue numbers, page numbers, et cetera--maybe even scans). --Buddy13 13:23, 16 February 2008 (PST)
- Yes, that would be great. I've seen the page at DarkUFO that lists a bunch of references, and there seems to be quite bit, although I haven't looked at them closely. It looks like there would be enough information to even create a separate article. If you want to start adding here, that's great, or if you think you have enough info to start a new article, you could go ahead and do that, and we could always merge it back here if necessary. -- Graft talk contributions 16:04, 16 February 2008 (PST)
- All the information on DarkUFO's page could easily warrant a new page. --Blueeagleislander 17:46, 16 February 2008 (PST)
- I don't have access to the internet at home (an issue that has hampered my ability to run my own wiki (I won't even provide the link at the moment, since it's so bad right now that it's offline...)), but I will write down the info from the two issues that I have seen Lost references in, as well as attempt to take decent photos (I don't have a working scanner). Is there a standard size that you use here for things like that? --Buddy13 15:03, 24 February 2008 (PST)
- All the information on DarkUFO's page could easily warrant a new page. --Blueeagleislander 17:46, 16 February 2008 (PST)
External links?
I want to add external links for each section, pointing to the subject (tv.com links for tv shows, imdb.com links for movies, for example, plus maybe the official sites for each one). So A) Do you think it should be done, or is it a bad idea? and 2) Where should they be, directly under the heading or at the end of each section, or rather at the very end of the article? My preferences are A) Yes, and 2) At the end of each section. Input please? -- c blacxthornE t 13:31, 7 April 2008 (PDT)
About Civil War
All of the registered Heroes have the number as there id numbers.--Boberthavok 15:32, 29 April 2008 (PDT)
More Cloverfield
The Dharma logo also appears for a single frame on the "Now on DVD" commercial for cloverfield. An easter egg in the movie is one thing, but to persist in the DVD commercial seems quite deliberate to me. Anyway, I haven't been able to find screenshots online of the commercial. --Buddy13 13:43, 3 May 2008 (PDT)
