Lost Season 5 has been confirmed in an ABC press release [1].

Originally Season 5 was scheduled to air from February-May 2009, running without recaps for sixteen episodes. Due to the writer's strike at the end of 2007, it is likely that Season 5 will have more than 16 episodes, as Lost is contracted to complete a number of hours of show, rather than a number of seasons, and lost two hours due to the writers strike during Season 4.
