Roger Linus was Benjamin Linus' father. He was a DHARMA Initiative "Work Man". His uniform featured the Swan Station logo. He was killed by Ben during the purge.

On December 19th during an unknown year in the 1960s, Roger and his wife (assumed by wedding ring visible on Roger's hand) Emily went on a hike in a forest near Portland. At the time, Emily was seven months pregnant with their presumably first and only child, but for an unknown reason, she went into labor early while on the hike. Roger delivered the baby, and then picked up Emily and the baby to run for help. As they reached the side of a busy road, Roger managed to stop a couple to help. Sadly, it was too late and Emily died in his arms. With her dying words, she asked Roger to name the baby Benjamin. ("The Man Behind the Curtain")

On the Island

Sometime in the 1970s, Roger takes a job with the DHARMA Initiative, courtesy of the same couple present when his wife died. He and Ben, about 8-10 years old at the time, came to the Island on the submarine and were enthusiastically greeted. However, when Opal assigned him the entry-level position of 'work man,' he expressed his dismay and stormed out with Ben. At first, Roger tried to coax Horace Goodspeed into getting him a better job, but he soon seemed to resign himself to his fate and started drinking heavily. He eventually came to blame Ben for the death of his mother.

In spite of this, Roger remained a work man until his death more than ten years later. That day, Ben, by then a work man too, accompanied his father on a delivery errand to stations around the island. Since it was Ben's birthday, the two stopped on a ridge to drink beer and watch the view. Unbeknownst to Roger, however, Ben had allied himself with the Hostiles. As part of the purge, Ben murdered his father with toxic gas. ("The Man Behind the Curtain")

He did not bother to dispose of the body, instead opting to leave it to decompose ingloriously in the DHARMA Van, where it was found several years later by Vincent, who brought his severed arm to Hurley. During the process of pulling his corpse from the wreckage his head fell off of his body. Sawyer, in typical fashion, dubbed Roger's remains "Skeletor". ("Tricia Tanaka Is Dead")
