Major occurences
Season One
- Oceanic Flight 815 crashes on an island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. ("Pilot, Part 1")
- Joanna drowns in the ocean, and Boone nearly drowns attempting to save her. ("House of the Rising Sun")
- Sayid finds a cable leading from the ocean to the jungle. ("Solitary")
- Ethan comes from the ocean and kills Scott. ("Outlaws")
- The raft sets sail of the beach, but is blown up by Tom and the Others. ("Exodus, Part 1") ("Exodus, Part 2")
Season Two
- Michael and Sawyer are stranded in the water, and are almost killed by a shark before washing ashore. ("Adrift")

- Charlie throws the heroin-filled Virgin Mary statues into the ocean. ("Three Minutes")
