Lloyd Braun was the chairman of ABC from 2002 to November 2004. Before the pilot of Lost aired, Braun was fired by ABC parent company Disney for commissioning the most expensive pilot episode of a television show ever produced (estimated at between ten and fourteen million dollars) and for having overseen one of the least productive periods in the network's history.
ABC executives assumed Lost would fail.[1]
