Affair with Sun
In "The Glass Ballerina", Sun and Jae Lee are seen in bed together.
- When Sun stopped Jae Lee--protesting that she cannot go through with it--she may have stopped the sexual part of the relationship before it even began.
- Sun didn't know whether her child belonged to Jin or someone else, so unless she had multiple affairs, Jae Lee was the only other possibility.
Death
In "The Glass Ballerina", Jae Lee falls to his death after he was threatened by Jin to leave the country. The October 30th 'Lost' Podcast confirmed that Jae Lee committed suicide.
- Jae Lee committed suicide because he couldn't bear leaving Sun, and Sun would not go away with him. The pearl necklace in Jae Lee's hands was a symbol of Sun's unattainable love, and provided Jae with the motivation to jump.
- Being caught by the husband of a woman he'd been secretly seeing was shameful and dishonorable.
- The American woman Jae Lee was planning to marry left him and Sun was all he had left. But after Jin's actions, Jae was now alone.
- He could have been the man Hurley saw fall to his death when meeting with Ken Halperin.
- Jae Lee's death was in Korea, at night. We see Hurley's guy fall during the day, presumably in America.
- He did not commit suicide but was pushed by Sun. She knew what Jin had to do so she did it in his place. The dropping the glass ballerina is an allusion to dropping Jae Lee from the window.
Miscellaneous theories
- Jae Lee's American woman could be another Lost character like Libby, Kate, Shannon or Sarah. For extensions on these theories and other candidates, please see the main article.
- May be one of the many suspected DHARMA Recruiters, especially since he is familiar with Sun's father, Mr. Paik. Paik Heavy Industries has been implicated in work with the Hanso Foundation.
