Isabel was a member of the Others, introduced in the episode "Stranger in a Strange Land". Tom referred to her as "the sheriff" when Jack asks who she was. She seemed to have an investigative or police role within the organization of the Others.

Season 3 (Days 73-74)
At night, Isabel appeared in the cages area where Jack was being held. She read out-loud Jack's tattoos, saying that the 5 and the star are cute but the Chinese is quite ironic. She introduces herself and asked him to come with her, so she could ask him some questions. ("Stranger in a Strange Land")Isabel was in charge of Juliet's arrest in Danny's murder and Ben's attempted murder investigation. She summoned Jack, Tom and Juliet to an office, where she questioned Jack on whether Juliet asked him to kill Ben or not. Jack lied and said that he was lying to Tom to create chaos. She knew he was lying, and asked him why would he lie for Juliet. He, on the other hand, asked to go back to his cage. ("Stranger in a Strange Land")
Right before the verdict about Juliet's execution, Jack and Alex interrupted with a message from Ben, who ordered Isabel to stop the execution but to "mark" her. Later that day, at sunset, she recited the supposed translation of Jack's tattoo to him: "He walks among us but is not one of us." Jack replied, "That's what it says but it's not what it means." The Others, with Jack, left the Hydra Island on a yacht, back to where "home" is, according to Ben. ("Stranger in a Strange Land")
At the end of Season Three, the producers said that she and several of the Others were dead. There was no further explanation except to say that it was "housecleaning", though there was an implication that she may have been one of the people killed in the tent explosions at the beach. ("Through the Looking Glass") (The World of the Others)
