Theories may be removed if ...
  1. Stated as questions or possibilities (avoid question marks, "Maybe", "I think", etc).
  2. More appropriate for another article.
  3. Illogical or previously disproven.
  4. Proven by canon source, and moved to main article.
  5. Speculative and lacking any evidence to support arguments.
  6. Responding to another theory (use discussion page instead).
  • This does not include responses that can stand alone as its own theory.
  • Usage of an indented bullet does not imply the statement is a response.

See the Lostpedia theory policy for more details.

  • Wasn't able to answer the phone due to his 'time travel'.
  • Minkowski's boat may have intercepted Michael and Walt, which caused Walt to project himself to Locke, in order to make sure that Locke prevented the Losties from contacting the boat, knowing what was in store for them if they made contact.
    • We know that Michael and Walt got home to New York several weeks before the freighter left port in Fiji.
  • The island is a secret experiment, the monster is protecting it. Minkowski and Naomi's search team have to kill anyone that knows about it.
  • Is not dead, only stuck in time.
  • Minkowski's consciousness didn't go back in time, but forward. In other words, Minkowski's 2004 consciousness equates to Desmond's 1996 consciousness. This would explain how he was able to remember things that happened to him on the boat, how he got stuck in time, etc. Of course, if he really dies in The Constant, then there is no future version of himself for his consciousness to end up in.
    • He could have been told about what happened, though not personally remembering it. He was merely recounting the information told to him.

References

  • Minkowski refers to Hermann Minkowski, the early twentieth century German mathematician-physicist who described time as a fourth dimension. Supported by The Constant.
  • Minkowski Spacetime is the most common frame of reference for spacetime, with three physical dimensions and a single time dimension, and it is used in general relativity. Closed timelike curves (CTCs) existing in Minkowski space explain many of the mysterious features of the island, why it can't be found or seen, etc. CTCs were linked to the Lost universe through clues from the ARG Find 815.
  • This connection is posited as evidence by the proponent of the HEMA theory.
  • With the appearance of the character of Daniel Faraday, and The Maxwell Group all named after famous scientists, this could hint that the mysterious faction to which Minkowski belongs are more like scientists than the philosophers who currently inhabit the island.
  • Minkowski is named after phenomenological philosopher and psychiatrist Eugène Minkowski, who studied the "subjectiveness of the lived time", and was described as having made "the first serious attempt in psychiatry to reconstruct the other person's lived experience."
