He used a computer in the Tempest to prevent the release of toxic gases, rendering them inert.

The siege for Ben's capture begins with an explosive attack on the Barracks ("The Shape of Things to Come"). Keamy then engages the secondary protocol for capturing Ben after he eluded them ("Cabin Fever"). Upon arriving at The Orchid station and finding the mercanaries waiting for him, Ben quickly explained the station to Locke & Hurley and asked that they remain behind, where he willingly surrenders himself to Keamy and his men. They subdued him ("There's No Place Like Home, Part 1").
