Exposé the fictional TV series is meant as a metacommentary on Lost itself (think: Invitation to Love and Twin Peaks). Similar elements include: mysterious characters not being who they seem; guest characters killed off; stolen goods used as a plot device; tough female characters, good at fighting, but betrayed and unexpectedly shot by a friend. Hurley's shock after reading Nikki's script and finding out The Cobra's real identity foreshadows the revelation of Lost's chief antagonist (currently defined as "Him" or "Joseph"). The villain in Exposé is revealed to be a popular, recurring character. That of a mentor or father figure. Somebody unexpected. This will happen in Lost with a regular character being revealed as the evil mastermind. The Cobra's identity has been "shrouded in mystery for four seasons" according to Hurley's assessment of Exposé. This indicates the direction of the fourth season of Lost (confirmed by ABC on the 21st March - one week before the episode Exposé aired). The conclusion of the fourth season will be Him/Jacob's big reveal as a well-established character - someone previously regarded as a "good person".
