Automatically Added Characters
Well I feel like a bit of a newb for asking this, but I can't seem to figure this out. When I First made this category, I think there were a couple characters I forgot to include. One such characters is Michael Dawson. Okay someone else added him to the list, but the only problem is that his name is under the "M" section rather than the "D" section. So I went to the Michael Dawson article to fix this, but when I went to edit the page, I saw that there was no link to be found in the Editing Michael Dawson page. I went back to the main article just to make sure that there was a link to that category in his article, and there was. I was a little confused by this, but I ignored this and tried to add a link this category anyway just to see if it would fix it, and it didn't. So I just wanted to know why characters are being added to this category even though there's no visible link for it in the editng pages. -- Nahald 20:46, 13 October 2006
Redirects
Are all these redirects needed? Nothing links to them or to this Category -- Paladine<c.t> 09:05, 12 October 2006 (PDT)
- Yeah that's kind of my fault, sorry. But in any case, it looks like they've been removed, so nothing to worry about. --Nahald 13:19, 12 October 2006 (PDT)
- No they are still there -- Paladine<c.t> 10:26, 12 October 2006 (PDT)
- Oh I misunderstood what you were saying before, I thought you meant that they the redirects were listed under the "Subcategories" section, which a couple of them were at first. Well go ahead and get rid of them if neccessary. Although there does seem to be another problem, the names of some Lostpedia users are on the list for some reason. Is this the result of some weird error or is it vandalism? Because either way, those user's names do not belong on this list and need to be taken off. --Nahald 18:57, 12 October 2006 (PDT)
- Fixed -- Paladine<c.t> 19:09, 12 October 2006 (PDT)
- In general, this occurs when users inadvertently include on their userpages an infobox template or some other template that was actually designed for Lost characters articles and that includes a Lost character category. Such templates are not appropriate for inclusion in userpages. Assuming that the inclusion of the category in the character template is appropriate (which is not necessarily always the case), then the solution is to contact those users and ask them to remove the template from their userpages. (If they don't remove it, you can ask a sysop to do it). Those users can easily, however, make a custom, non-template, version of the infobox for use on their userpage. On the other hand, when the inclusion of the category in the template is not appropriate, the solution is to remove the category from the template. (The inclusion of a category in a template or the removal of a category from a template should be done after careful consideration of the balance of the advantages and inconvenients and of the eventual side-effects.) - Cheers 21:32, 12 December 2006 (PST)

Aaron
Shouldn't Aaron be a native not a survivor? --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Atlanticcowboy (talk • contribs) .
- A decision has been taken that Aaron was a survivor because one way or another, he was a major character on Flight 815, even before birth. He was also nearly full term anyway, so would've been able to survive outside of Claire's support. Thats why he's classed as a survivor. -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 09:36, 16 December 2006 (PST)
Please investigate: Oceanic Category Bug
Adding to what Nahald and Paladine has posted above, there seems to be a serious bug associated with this category, that whenever it is added, it can never be lifted off. I've encountered that twice today, first when I've tried to remove the category from the article of Desmond, who was clearly not a member of flight 815. After deleting the category from the code, I found that the link still exists down the page, and is functioning normally. Again I encountered that with the Talk:Main Page/Archive 200607 page, where the link appears, but after looking up the whole code, I couldn't find the category, which means either that one of us attempted to remove the link too by deleting it, but faced the same problem, or that it was added to it automatically. According to these repeated incidents, I don't think this is a vandalism, but a code defect that needs a lookup. Please investigate. -- 20:30, 12 December 2006 (PST)
- It's included on Template:Nav-SurvivorsMain so someone with the ability to edit that page needs to remove it from the template. --Elvis 20:43, 12 December 2006 (PST)
