Why does it seem like the cards are stacked against Aaron ever having a father?
So far, the daddy count is -3 for Aaron: prospective father Thomas had second thoughts, Charlie became the target of a series of freakish accidents that required him to be consistently monitored/protected by Desmond (lightening, slip and fall to his doom catching birds, drowning while trying to save Claire from drowning, and eventually death by underwater grenade explosion), and Jack went from enthusiastic, bed-time story reading, prospective father/husband to Aaron/Kate to boozy, not supposed to raise him but still interested in his safety "Let's go back to the island," (i.e. where Claire is) advocate.
- Widmore bought off Thomas the same way he bought off Desmond to stay away from Penny, thus ensuring a certain chain of events. See Thomas' painting in Widmore's office as proof [[1]]. Widmore bought off Thomas to start the events that put Claire on Flight 815, his man Abaddon put the walkabout idea in Locke's head, and buying off Desmond ultimately puts him on track to be an executive button pusher on the island.
Why is Aaron so important?
- Biblically Jacob was Aaron's great grandfather. Now Christian is Aaron's grandfather. This would imply that Christian "Shepherd" is Jacob's son. Moreover Jacob was regarded as the 1st Shepherd.
- Aaron was the ONLY CHILD BORN on the island.
- Why is Aaron so important that Charlie returns from the dead to tell Jack (via Hurley) to tell what to do or what not to do regarding that child?
- Exactly, why would Charlie come back from the dead and tell Hurley - a patient in a mental hospital - what Jack should do?
- Him may not necessarily refer to Aaron, although that is the most logical assumption. It could refer to Locke, now dead, being "raised" from the dead.
Richard Malkin
Though Malkin admits that he himself is not psychic, his creepy undead daughter appears to be (as evidenced by her conversation with Eko about the sentiments of the dead Yemi). Given this, what were Malkin's intentions in advising Claire to get on flight 815?
Theory 1: Richard Malkin put Claire on the plane because Charles Widmore told him to.
- Widmore bought off Thomas the same way he bought off Desmond to stay away from Penny, thus ensuring a certain chain of events. See Thomas' painting in Widmore's office as proof [[2]].
- Malkin's constant warnings about her raising Aaron made her feel conflicted about adoption and lead her to not give Aaron away until she got to the island.
Theory 2: Richard Malkin put Claire on the plane for the Others.
- Aaron is part of their long term plan, as is him growing up in L.A. with Kate. That is why Claire is persuaded to abandon Aaron.
- Neither Ben nor Locke were raised on the island, though Locke could have easily been adopted (he spent his youth in a series of foster homes we learn in Deau ex Machina. Perhaps this is part of the protocal for prospective leaders and this is why Locke wants the O6 to return.
Counter-evidence:
- Why didn't they know she was coming then?
Theory 3: Richard Malkin put Claire on the plane to save Aaron from the Others, knowing that eventually, if Claire didn't give Aaron away, he would end up with a "nice couple in LA".
- Malkin repeatedly tells her not to give Aaron up to "an-other" and insists that she raise him.
- Jack and Kate are the "nice couple in LA" to whom Richard Malkin wanted Claire to give Aaron.
- He didn't know that the plane would crash, but only new of the future where Jack and Kate were happily raising Aaron. And he didn't know that they would break up.
- Kate is meant to raise Aaron. There have been scenes foreshadowing Kate's role in taking care of Aaron. In Eggtown, Claire remarks to Kate that she should try it (motherhood) some time. In Cabin Fever, Christian says that Aaron is where he is supposed to be - under the tree to be discovered by Sawyer. In the future, Hurley tells Jack that he is not supposed to raise him (referring to Aaron presumably) ("Something Nice Back Home"), but says nothing about Kate.
Lineage
- Aaron is the great-great-grandson of Jacob as he is in the Bible.
- Aaron of the bible is Moses' brother. In "Something Nice Back Home" Aaron is left by his mother at the base of the tree, similar to Moses being left by his mother for someone else to raise.
- Aaron's father Thomas is the son of Charles Widmore.
Aaron & Kate
- Jack feels guilty about those he left behind (especially since Claire was his sister) and therefor doesn't want to see Aaron because of guilt.
- Jack is haunted by the island and doesn't want to be around Aaron because of all his issues.
- Jack is haunted by his father/son issues and doesn't want to be around Aaron because of them.
The Sickness
- Aaron's rash in "Maternity Leave" really was the beginning of the Sickness.
Other theories
- Aaron is the Antichrist, or something similar, which was why Malkin wanted him to go to the safeguard of good parents.
- Aaron is a Christ-like figure; the savior of the Island. Jesus is a descendant of Jacob. In Charlie's dream that mirrors The Baptism of Christ, Claire appears very Mary-like; mother of Christ.
- Aaron has similar psychic abilities to Walt. He immediately started crying after Charlie's death in "Through the Looking Glass" which suggested that he somehow knew Charlie had died.
- This is supported by the claims made by the psychic that it is imperative that Aaron should not be raised by another, and the Others' interest in babies born on the Island.
- Richard Malkin stated that he was a fraud and was paid to tell a pregnant girl to give up her baby.
- Richard Malkin may have had ulterior motives in asserting that he was a fraud. We really don't know whether he is a genuine psychic or not, but his predictions about Aaron seem to have some significance, and his daughter also appears to have verifiable psychic abilities. Also, he did not accept Claire's money, and may never have expected to receive a cash settlement from the adoptive parents in California if he genuinely knew that 815 would crash.
- Flight 815 Crashed on the Island by Desmond not pushing the button so how could he know.
- Uhhh, because he is a psychic

- The ship featured in Episode 7 of Season 4 Ji Yeon was called Kahana. Alternate transliteration is Kahane a biblical name that was derrived from another biblical name Kohen which was a direct desendant of another Biblical character Aaron. Kohen performed daily and ceremonial sacraficial offerings. So maybe this boat has something to sacrafice, and Aaron has something to do with it.
- The Others are interested in babies born on the Island because they can't make it happen.
Future
- Claire will be forced to stay on the island or die before being rescued, and Aaron will go to Kate. This is the "he" Kate referred to in "Through the Looking Glass".
- Aaron could have health problems that arise after leaving the Island.
- Kate does not want her mother to see Aaron because Kate knows that Aaron is not truly her "son" nor her mother's "grandson".
- Aaron has healing powers. This would explain why Kate accused her ill mother of trying to make a "deal" when she asked to see Aaron.
- If Aaron has healing powers, how would Kate's mother know?--Izziebee 13:01, 16 June 2008 (PDT)
- Aaron could possibly be Jacob, which would make sense considering we know that both Claire and Christan are seen in the cabin together aka his mom and grandfather. He was sent off the island to be raised and time travel back to save them all and thus he becomes jacob.
- As in the episode 23rd Psalm when clair finds out that her baby's name 'aaron' is that of moses' brother and that aaron once spoke for moses, it could be possible that aaron is to become the leader of the island one day as ben was and speak for a "holy one" being jacob, this may be why he is not to be raised by anyone other than claire and he is also important as part of the oceanic six and the reason they must all be together to return to the island because in time aaron is to become the leader of the island.
- when karl is being kept in room 23 and being brainwashed on the screen appears a line saying "god loves you as he loved jacob" which may have been similar for aaron(biblical) as he was in moses' shadow but god still loves him just as he loved moses, maybe symbolising the biblical reference in the storyline.--Clemslost 02:19, 25 June 2008 (PDT)
