While Richard Malkin obviously does not believe that he has "the gift" of foresight, as Charlie said he believes some people do ("Raised by Another", a belief pretty much confirmed by Desmond's actions), it seems from his actions in changing his mind with Claire that he did experience some sort of psychic experience. However, this sudden change of heart is explained here if, when his daughter, Charlotte Malkin, was "between places," she talked to Yemi, as she told Eko. As we saw when Yemi tried to warn Eko not to get on the plane in "The 23rd Psalm", Yemi seems to have "the gift." If he could see the crash of Flight 815, then Richard could book Claire on the plane at Charlotte's request.
